Ginnie, You won't have to worry about fitting into a phone booth as a member of Mac's fan club with that remark! <VBG> Right, Mac? Seriously, before the Hill District was leveled for the Civic Arena and before the riots of '68, there were a lot of night spots all over the Pgh region, drawing a lot of the name entertainers but greed and economics killed most of them and TV can probably share some of the blame. Most of the singers popular today with the young kids, well, at least the younger crowd, probably wouldn't have made it 50 years ago. They are selling sex as much as, if not more than, the music that they deliver. Comparing them to Sinatra, Bennett, Torme and others of that generation is a joke. Most of today's stars couldn't even warm up the audience; they would have been booed from existence. Hi Everyone Have a peaceful and Happy New Year. you are all my friends and it means a lot to me. Barb
Hi Ginnie The nightclub that I was thinking of was no where near the old airport. Its going to drive me nuts now. Barb
Hi Al Went to a party at my nephew's house who lives in Plum Boro. It is near Monroeville and Penn Hills. He lives in a housing development that is rather new. Very nice homes there. Barb
That's it Ginnie. Bill Green's on R. 51. Couldn't remember the name of it and I know I would have wrestled with my brain all night trying to think of the name Barb
Hi Al I remember that there was a nightclub on R. 51 that was closer than Southland. It was about 5 or 6 minutes from Carrick. This is where my daughter caught her dad with another woman. It might have been the Ankara Barb
Hope everyone of you out there on the Pittsburgh List has a great and prosperous New Year!!
I don't know what road it was on - been away for too long - but I remember a place called "Chez Dee's".....and one of it's claims to fame was that the roof could open for summer enjoyment. I think it was near some big produce market.......but that's all I remember. Barbara....uprooting family trees in Sacramento.

Donna, What century was that? Living in the South Hills, Plum Boro was in the boonies to the East and most who live in the South Hills haven't the faintest idea of where it is. I went to a funeral there once and I still don't know where I was. <VBG> Al At 09:45 PM 12/30/2001, you wrote: >What about the Center Club in Plum Boro?
