Does anyone have access to the 1930 census for Beaver Co.? I'm trying to find Sarah I. (Cook) Everhart. I thought she was in Allegheny Co. in 1930, but can't find her . . . possibly she returned to Beaver Co. (Ambridge area). I believe she was divorced from John C. Everhart at the time. She may have had one or more sons living with her. Thanks Sandy

Bea, Looking on Familysearch.org, I found William Rea in the 1880 census. He is in Beaver Falls, 4th ward. He is living on Main Street.. He and Maria are age 37. He is a laborer. Annie M. is 8. Also living with them is his sister,Caroline D., age 40. The link on familysearch to Ancestry is incorrect. William is in Beaver County, Beaver Falls, ED176, page 1. They are the first family on the page. Judi
Hi Rod, When I retired in 1992, I did some volunteer work for the Smithsonian in D.C. It was a project that I participated here in Pittsburgh, and the main object was to catalog every piece of outdoor sculpture in the US. I have no Idea if the Smithsonian has a data base available to cross refer Harbaugh's name. If you care to check with them, the project was called "SOS", for "Save Outdoor Sculpture". Wondering if there was a predominate newspaper for the South Side neighborhoods in 1885 that would have carried information regarding the 74th PA Survivor's Association? Looking at a document I received a copy of, the Association formed on 17 Aug 1885 and was active for many years. The President was Gustav Schleiter, a prominent businessman. My thought is that they may have posted a notice of their meeting in a local newspaper and so on a hunch I am trying to find out what papers would have served the South Side during that year. Thanks in advance. Efforts are for the 74th website. http://www.olypen.com/tinkers/74th%20Pennsylvania/Webpage/default.htm Rod Fleck Sent from Forks, Washington
First of two inquiries tonight. The 74th PA Volunteers commissioned "A.J. Harbaugh" of 4725-2729 Butler St. Pittsburgh to sculpt their monument at Gettysburg. I am wondering if anyone out there might have any information on this individual? His workmanship was remarkable and the cost of the marker was ~$1800 in 1888 - not cheap by any measure. Just trying to find out a bit more about the artist for the 74th's website http://www.olypen.com/tinkers/74th%20Pennsylvania/Webpage/default.htm Thanks in advance Rod Fleck Sent from Forks, Washington

I have a question for some of you long time city residents. Do any of you know of or have heard of any black market baby activities going on in the 40's and 50's? Maybe there were some newspaper or TV news articles about suspicious foster homes, orphanages, or unwed mother homes? I'm doing some research on this topic and any help you could give me would be very appreciated. Mac, how about it, you know a lot about stuff from the 'olden days.' Not that I think you're old, but I thought maybe your parents might have told you something <wink>. Sue* ~~No bugs here~~ Norton Security Suite 2004

Does anyone have any information about the 5th avenue Theatre that was located between Smithfield and Wood. Throughout it's history it was called the Old Drury and the Grand Opera House. Our relatives, the family of William Barr, lived in the house next door to the opera house from around 1819 (when William Charles Barr was born) until ? Was hoping someone had some more information on the theatre throughout it's history in Pittsburgh. (An old hand drawn picture of 5th avenue from 1840 shows the Theatre with the Falstaff house and then two dwellings) Plat maps from historic pittsburgh show our Barrs owning the squares adjacent to the theatre in 1872 -- Does anyone have any information on the theatre and the Falstaff House and dwellings located near it.
