    1. Re: [PITTSBURGH] Marriage Index at Carnegie Library
    2. Ray, Thank you again for your help. Somehow we are going to go to the library. We are leaving here on a Tuesday and the reunion isn't until that Sat., then we leave the next Tues., but there are cemetaries we have to go to and take pictures, we plan on trying to find descendents of several families that we knew nothing about, go for at least a day to Ohio (Jewett and Germano) to try and find others. It sounds like a lot of time but when you start listing what we hope to do, believe me it isn't. If we don't get to it, there are at least a couple of relatives that live in the area that might be willing to do looks ups for us. I have printed out your message so I can pass on the information, just in case. Alice

    2. Ray .
    3. At the genealogy dept. in the Pennsylvania Room at Carnegie Library in Oakland, they do have a list of all their microfilms, with catalogue numbers identifying which drawers to look in. The numbering pattern and catalog layout seems oddly organized (I'm not surprised some staff members don't even know their holdings), but if you scour the list thoroughly you will find what you need. 3. Thanks everyone for your help in figuring out the marriage records at the Carnegie Library....do you believe when I called again, they still didn't know they had the records! I actually had to ask them if they had the minister's returns and they had to put me on hold to check!!! It's a shame the PA room doesn't even know what it has! Thanks again, Amy

    3. You are correct; I've used that index many times. They even have some actual records there up to a certain year. They're right in the same microfilm room as all the other material. I don't know the roll numbers - I've always found the roll numbering there to be confusing. 2. Carol Movahed
    3. Alice, There is a library in Carnegie Borough called "Andrew Carnegie Free Library" on 300 Beechwood Ave., 412-276-3456. However, I believe that when people refer to "Carnegie Library" they are referring to the huge main Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh on Forbes Ave. in Oakland (across from the Cathedral of Learning). The website for Carnegie Library branch locations and other info is: www.clpgh.org Carol M. >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [PITTSBURGH] Marriage Index at Carnegie Library >Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 13:31:24 EDT > >Ray, I feel stupid but I will ask anyway, is the Carnegie Library your >talking about in "Carnegie"? Sorry, but my sister and I will be in Carnegie in Sept and seeing that bit of news was wonderful, maybe we will be able to find several of our ancestors marriages. Alice

    3. I enjoyed the picnic, it was nice seeing the kids, and we were lucky to have such a beautiful day. Sorry, Bob couldn't find your gloves, and I called Giant Eagle, to ask if anyone turned in a pair of blue gloves, and she said no, she couldn't find any gloves in the lost and found. Hope you find them. Let me know if you do. I told Giant Eagle how many people I was having, and that's the size of the cake they recommended. It was a half a sheet cake, it looked like a whole sheet cake to me. Thanks for picking up the cake, and making the dill dip, and the chicken appetizer. They both were very good. Was it the marble side of the cake that was dry? I had the yellow side, it tasted ok to me. Thanks for coming and doing all that you do . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol S." <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 1:00 PM Subject: Re: [PITTSBURGH] TEST > Thank you. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 9:03 AM > Subject: Re: [PITTSBURGH] TEST > > > > confirm > > > > > > ==== PA-PITTSBURGH Mailing List ==== > > How to unsubscribe.
