    1. PA people and rain
    2. Sue Mc
    3. TIRED OF ALL THIS RAIN? A curious fellow died one day and found himself waiting in the long line of judgment. As he stood there he noticed that some souls were allowed to march right through the pearly gates into Heaven. Others though, were led over to Satan who threw them into the burning pit. But every so often, instead of hurling a poor soul into the fire, Satan would toss a soul off to one side into a small pile. After watching Satan do this several times, the fellow's curiosity got the best of him. So he strolled over and asked Satan what he was doing. "Excuse me, Mr. Prince of Darkness," he said. "I'm waiting in line for judgment, but I couldn't help wondering...why are you tossing those people aside instead of flinging them into the Fires of Hell with the others?" "Ah, those...," Satan said with a groan. "They're all from Pennsylvania. They're still too cold and wet to burn." 1. Re: [PITTSBURGH] library
    2. Barb, Believe me I know exactly what you mean about traffic and streets there, when my sisters and I were there a couple of years ago, I was lost the whole time, we even stopped at a gas station and asked but they had no idea at all how to get to the address we were looking for, they said that they only knew their own neighborhood!! This time we are going to go to AAA for a map of the areas we will be going to. I am not taking any chances. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. Alice

    3. Alice You will probably have to park in "The parking lot from hell". The streets are confusing to someone not familiar with them. Getting directions would be of help to you. Try getting a map on the Internet. Barb

It is regarding his involvement in the First Church of St. Nicholas in Marianna. It lists him as one of the leaders of the Russian colony involved in the church. Is a nice historical article. It is from 1910. I will scan and email later today (I am off to get beautified at the hair salon and can't do right now) Ruth Sprowls --part1_15c.381f5e41.2e133a7c_boundary--

    1. Re: [PITTSBURGH] Re: Przeorski & Karczewska migration
    2. Thanks, Karen, for trying. Yes, I have been to the Ellis Island site where I have found my grandmother's younger sister who arrived in 1900. I have also seen the Antonina Karczewska who arrived in 1912, but that is not 'my' Antonina. I guess I shall have to keep looking. I appreciate your effort. Judi

    1. Re: Przeorski & Karczewska migration
    2. Hello Judi, Sorry I did not find either one of your requested surnames listed in the books by Ira Glazier. "Migration from the Russian Empire". Have you tried a search on Steve Morse search site of Ellis Island records? _http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html_ (http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html) I located a Antonina Karczewska, but arrival wasn't until 1912 according to this manifest. I've downloaded the information on this person and will be glad to send it to you in a zipped file with your approval. Karen
