    3. To Elaine, regarding Holy Cross Cemetery at Yeadon. I called the Philadelphia Diocese Office, who sent me on to their cemetery one. People there were very helpful, gave me plot numbers of my family from 1815-1940. A nice man working when I went to view the site helped me find "everyone". I live all the way in San Diego, so I was anxious to have the info before the trip. Has anyone contacted the parish office at the St.Dominic cemetery? Does anyone know why the cemetery at Yeadon was used to bury people in the early 1900s? It os so far away from Philly. Does anyone have any specific info on the flu pandemic of 1918 in Philly? The pictures show a type of cemetery I am not familiar with. The plots are fenced with a low rail fence. There is a tall monument which has the surname GLASSE. On one side it says "My Wife", another view appears to have a different inscription on another side of the monument. We believe this to be the burial place of James GLASSE and his wife Mary Ellen Martin GLASSE. Possibly their son Joseph E. is buried there, he died as a child. Dear Mary If you've got the death year for your ggm, there are two easy avenues: 1. West Laurel Hill maintains pretty good records of each interment. I've got a lot of family buried there and info provided by the cemetery has included death dates, inter- ment dates, undertakers, family member names, sometimes cause of death, etc. Its almost as good as a death certificate for info. They charge a small fee for providing xerox copies. 2. PA Vital Records -- For any death after 1906, you can send for a copy of the death certificate. You can get an order form from www.health.state.pa.us/HPA/apply_bd.htm. Toward the bottom of the page, click on either fax form or mail-in form (you need Adobe Acrobat reader on your PC, but you can download that from this page, too). You'll need her full name, date of death (the year suffices), and the place of death (city and/or county). You'll also need to supply your relationship to the person and the reason for your request (e.g., genealogy). The fee is $3.00. If you don't have a year of death, you can ask them to search a decade at a time; its $28. You just send off the form with a check and sase. I've used their services many times; in some cases, I've received death and birth certificates in as little as two weeks. Their address is PA Vital Records, P.O. Box 1528, New Castle, PA 16103-1528, phone 724-656-3100 (8 am - 4 pm, M-F). Good luck!
