Hello, I am new to the list and I am hoping that some of you can give me some advice and point me in the right direction. I would like to contact the cemetery to see if anyone else is buried with him as well as to find a MI. Most of my research has been in England, so I would welcome any advice and help in finding out more about him and his family here. Thank you. I am interested in finding out more for Philip Ralph COTGREAVE and his family. The following is his Administration back in England.; >Administration of the Personal Effects of Philip Ralph COTGREAVE of 2217 South Shields Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A., who died 9 September 1941 at The Scared Heart Cancer Hospital, Philadelphia. Granted Chester 11 May 1949 to William Cullimore, Solicitor. Effects £431/1/6d in England. He was buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery and left a wife Kathryn (Kate) who does not show up as dying or remarrying in England. I believe she stayed in the Philadelphia area after his death. Thank you, Bill Cotgreave billcot@optonline.net
I am doing lookups for Greenwood Knights of Pythias Cemetery and will be checking the microfilm on Saturday. If you send me your lookup request I will do my best to find your names. Anyone who has family interred at Greenwood Cemetery should be aware that there is a case pending before the Philadelphia Orphans Court concerning the rights of the Lotholders. The Judge has asked for all Lotholders to come forward. If anyone owns lots or has family buried in the cemetery please contact me right away. I will do my best to assist anyone who needs a lookup to prove their status as a Lotholder. Regards, Gloria >Does anyone have the address and phone number for the Greenwood cemetery in >Philly? Hello, I am hoping someone plans on visiting the Westminster Cemetery and would be willing to photograph the tombstones on Lot 115 in the Landsdown section. There are 6 Goodyears buried there: Ezra, Annie, Frederick, Eva, John, and Edward. Coleen
Hello folks: We are new to the lists and are hoping that someone may be able to help us. Our grandfather Silas C. Fish was born in 1885 and died in 1921 in Phila. He married Sadie Benham in 1915 in Philadelphia. We know he had a sister Carrie who married Bright. His parents were Abraham, b. 1856 and died 1916 and Henrietta Costers Fish. They are buried in the Hebrew Cemetery. Abraham's parents were Louis and Rachel Fellaman Fish who emigrated from Holland. They also are buried in the Hebrew Cemetery. We would love to know anyone associated with our grandfather and his family, his origins, or the community. At some point, his wife's family lived in Germantown, and finally on Chew St. If anyone knows any resources, that would be great also. Thanks so much. Sue and family
Hi! Evergreen Cemetery is in Camden, New Jersey. Best bet would be to contact the Camden County Historical Society. They do have a website. Terry C.
Dear List: Does anyone know of an Evergreen Cemetery located in Philadelphia? If so, I would appreciate any information you may have. Thank you, Linda Magill
I found a list of cemeteries at the web site below - I printed out 19 pages of names, addresses, etc. They are listed by church, ie: Baptist, Catholic, etc. Philadelphia Area Cemeteries at - http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/8088/cem.html ----- Original Message ----- From: Samuel Magill <dmagill@erols.com> To: <PA-PHILA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 18, 2001 2:26 PM Subject: [PHILLY~CEMS] Evergreen Cemetery > Dear List: > Does anyone know of an Evergreen Cemetery located in Philadelphia? Ann Pryor, daughter of Calvin W. and Elizabeth Pryor was born in 1838 in Carbon County. When she was only 2 years old ( 1840) she reached up and grabbed her father's shaving mug with boiling water and accidentally poured the hot water down her throat. She died from the burns. At that time the family was living in Philadelphia. I have no record as to where Ann was buried. If you happen to see mention of a grave of a Pryor child in Philadelphia County or Carbon County I would dearly love to hear from you. By 1843 the family has migrated to Missouri and left the grave of Ann behind with no mention in any of the family records as to where they laid her to rest. Kathleen Burnett
Hi, Deborah. What about sending away for their death certificates so you have the exact dates? Lynne a former neighbor of yours (from near Stone Mountain!) SRedden500@aol.com wrote: > Hello Members! Hello Members! I need your help. Holy Sepulchre told me they could not provide me with two grave locations UNLESS I know the EXACT dates of death. (Since some records are in the computer and some are not.) *Gladys Sandusky CROWLEY died probably between 1940 and 1950. *William J. CROWLEY died probably in the 1950's. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to do next? Even if I made the trip up there; it is my understanding that this is a large cemetery and just "walking around" would not be realistic. Thanks and Smiles, Deborah in McDonough, GA
Deborah Do you know their birthdates or social security numbers? If so, go to the SSDI at roots web and do a search. There were about 30 Gloria Crowley and about 300 William Crowley. Contact the SSDI for their application if you can. Also, have you contacted Philadelphia or Pennsylvania regarding death records at that time. Those records may be indexed and easy to search, so the fee may not be that great. You may also want to contact the genealogical or historical societies in Phila and see if this cemetery has an index. Another option would be to order the films for directories in Phila and see what year they stopped being listed. Answer to Rita, Holy Cross Cemetery does have a listing of who is burried there (as do all cemeteries) but you must know atleast the year in which they were interned.
Can anyone tell me about the Holy Cross Cemetery? I am looking for some family that is buried there. Do they have a book with a listing of individuals buried their? Thanks Rita
Re: Walter Kyle's request for a birth date. Since you know when and where he was burried simple write to the Phila, Archives at 30th & Market and request a copy of the deathe certificate. It will disclose his birth date or atleast tell you he wasx years and x ;months & x days old at time of death. This certificate will cost about & to 9 dollars.
now they are alphabetized, and still fit on 1.44 disk. dont forget to email me privately with links or sites to be added or if i missed any. -- Deborah L.
