Article Text: Refusing to leave his work for the Rockefeller Foundation in Colorado, against the advice of physicians, Dr. George Frederick BLESSING, Professor of Engineering at Swarthmore College, died yesterday. His health broke down while in the West and he was brought to his summer home in Bay Head, Mich., early last week, but he failed to recover. Dr. BLESSING was on leave of absence from Swarthmore, where he had been head of the engineering department since 1908. Widely known as an engineering expert and educator, he was plant facilities engineer for the United States Ordnance Department during the war. He was born in Carrollton, Ky., in 1875, and was a graduate of University of Kentucky. He received a degree of doctor of philosophy from Hanover College, Indiana, in 1906, and studied and taught in Cornell University for two years. Dr. BLESSING is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Martha R. WHITE, of Lexington, Ky., and two children, Elizabeth, seven years old, and Robert, five years old. He was a member of the Engineer's Club, of this city, and of the Sigma Xi honorary engineering fraternity. Several treatises on scientific and educational subjects have been written by him. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ PA-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
