Article Text: Philadelphia, September 2. We learn from Belfast in Ireland, that a great number of Protestant families all over the North, are preparing to transport themselves to America, and that notwithstanding the care our legislature have taken to check this spirit in the people, the same seems to increase every day, and is now at such a height, that by a moderate computation, no less than ten thousand Protestant families will transport this season. This growing evil so prejudicial to the interest of the country in general, and to our linen manufacture in particular, is (as 'tis said) owing to the landlords, who do not give their tenants proper tenures, whereby they are discouraged from making improvements on their lands. On Monday arrived here a large ship from Holland with 388 passengers, men, women and children, having buried but one in their passage. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ PA-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
