Physician Said to Be From Philadelphia Committed to an Asylum. Article Text: Concord, N.H., Feb. 25.--Dr. Clinton DODGE, a physician of Philadelphia, has been committed to the State Insane Asylum here. Dr. DODGE has been in poor health for some time. By the advice of his doctors he was sent to the village of Temple, N. H., in the hope that the quiet of the country would benefit his malady. Instead, however, he gradually became worse, and grew extremely violent. A few days ago he attacked his mother, who was attending him. He seized her and choked her until she was nearly dead. Then he sprang through the window, and ran half clothed through the snow to Greenville, a distance of four miles. Several persons whom he met on the way were assaulted and beaten by the maniac. The town constables of Greenville finally secured him after a severe struggle, and they were obliged to tie him with ropes. The authorities decided that Dr. DODGE was hopelessly insane, and ordered his commitment to the asylum. Dr. DODGE is said to come of a prominent Philadelphia family, and he will probably be transferred to a private sanitarium in Philadelphia. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ PA-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
