Article Text: Philadelphia, March 29. We hear from the upper part of the French Creek, that on the 11th instant, one John IDDENS went into the pine swamp with a falling ax and two dogs, in search of a bear which had been seen and was suppos'd to den there. He found her at the foot of a hill, where she had dug a deep hole, and half filled it with leaves. The bear immediately seized his Mastiff dog in her hug, when he attack'd her with his picking ax, and struck it so deep into her head that 'twas with difficulty he got it out again. He redoubled his blow, and she fell dead to the ground.
