When questioned as to why he was about the town sick, NEAL said he had ivy poison and felt no bad effects. He said the rash had been on his face for several days. NEAL told the physicians that he thought he took the poison while burying the carcass of a dead dog in the country. The Wood Street Public School, where a son of NEAL attended, was immediately closed by the Board of Health and fumigated. The men in a beer saloon, where NEAL was said to have spent several hours, were ordered vaccinated. Mrs. James PRICE, also colored, was found to have the same disease. The place was put under quarantine. The authorities are investigating and taking precautionary measures to stop the spread of the disease. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ PA-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
