"Att a monthly meeting at Darby ye 7th day of ye 8th mo; 1685, Thomas Worth and Isabel Dauinson declared theire Intentions of Marriage. Among the earliest settlers under Wm Penn came Thomas Worth. It appears that he was born in 1649, left England 21st 2mo, 1682, and landed in Pa about the beginning of the 6th mo.....before Wm Pen had sailed. Because he had a better education than was usual in that day, his services were constantly in demand in the performance of such duties as required an expert and ready penman. It is thought that his wife probably came in the same ship with her husband to be. She died in 1709, at the age of 54. Thomas lived until 1731. In 1697 he represented Chester co in the Provincial Assembly. His son, Thomas, moved to Bradford in 1739.
