I have an ADC map of Chester Co, that includes all things of interest, and while I find Ellis Woods Rd and "Schoolhouse Rd" (which I figure that's where it was), there in nothing in the index for an actual bldg, nor is there one on the map. Of course, this not first hand info, but what's on the map. I will say that the ADC map books are great, and there is a "Ellis Woods Revolutionary" (and then a Cross, so I imagine this might be a cemetery)....but nothing for an extant school. S.. Looking for info on the school house (probably 1-room) that was located on Creamery Road, near the intersection of Ellis Woods Road, in south eastern East Coventry Twp., Chester Co., PA. Is the building still standing?
I have an old book "Breou's Original Series of Farm Maps Chester County PA"; W.H. Kirk & Co.; 1883. The school house is clearly drawn on property that borders property of Elias Latshaw, Jacob Hansberger & Samuel Wiand - on Creamery Road near the creamery & Ellis Woods Road. There is another school house drawn on the map on Schoolhouse Road, near Kulp Road - but that is north & west of the creamery. Looking for info on the school near the creamery since it was the school closest to the farm where my ancestor lived. He lived on the property of Lusetta (Brownback) Garber with his mother who was working as a servant in Lusetta's household.
