    1. Re: [PaOldC] Fwd: Benjamin Ford
    2. I have in my records a William Ford married to Ann Baldwin. They had at least three children; Mary Ford died 1802 married James Brinton 23 March 1745 at Chichester Meeting; John Ford married Prudence Clayton b. 17 March 1725 on 19 Oct. 1745 at Chichester Meeting; Sarah Ford b. apt. 1740 married Andrew Peterson b. 13 Aug. 1741 on 13 Feb. 1763 at Old Swedes Church, Wilmington, Del. I have children for both Mary Ford Brinton and Sarah Ford Peterson, if anyone wants them. Also the parents for Ann Baldwin, James Brinton, Prudence Clayton, and Andrew Peterson. Let me take this a step further. Reuben Ford had several sons. I know that, along with Benjamin, there was a William, Philip, Joseph, John, Reuben, and daughter Mary. Benjamin had several children by his wives all listed in his will of 1771, proved 1774 in New Castle. He had children Hannah Perkins, Benjamin, Mary Derickson, Elizabeth Howell, Jane Golden, 13 Philip, David, Joseph, Prudence, Jemima, Ann, and Sarah. Curiously, the will names Philip, Joseph and William as the youngest sons and Prudence, Jemima, Ann and Sarah. Son in law Thomas Perkins and Thomas Babb were executors of the will. It appears that the land record you mention may have been for brother Philip, as his decease preceded his brothers. William Ford, brother of Benjamin Sr. married an Ann Baldwin. These families were very intertwined with the Hussey and Perkins families. I recall that the Babb family appears in a genealogy that also includes William Ford. Needless to say, William named his children similarly. The will John Ford you included could be a son of this William,Sr; who also had a son named Benjamin. Odd that his wife would be a Prudence, unless he married his cousin, which wouldn't be that unusual. I see that a Baldwin was listed as a witness to the will. On second thought, this could be the will of John Sr., son of Reuben and Mary Ford and brother of Benjamin Sr. and William Sr. . Perhaps brother Benjamin named his younger daughter after his sister in law...???? In a will of Jane Heartley in 1798 (also in New Castle) , whe mentions kinsman Jacob Ford and the firm Benson and Heartley. John Ford alias John Benson,. I don't know who these Fords are, but I expect that they are of the next generation. All the repetitive names have my head spinning. It is a tangled mess. I will look for the Birmingham records. Was there also a Thornbury meeting?? It looks like I may have to head for Swarthmore College. Thank you again. I have looked and the only Benjamin Ford included in the HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY PA, by Futhey and Cope is much too late to be the one you're looking for, nor is there a mention of aReiben Ford. (what records for descentents in Chester Co do you have? That would be a help to know where to look). The only Bloomer is Wm, and too late to be of interest, and no one named Vanaman, any spelling I could think of. The early court records of 1696 have a Reuben Ford on a Birmingham twp inquest. When folks were in Chester this early I figure there is a good chance they were Quakers...as there was no PA till the Quaker's arrival in1682, and most early settlers WERE Quakers. I therefor looked in my early Quaker meeting records and see that on 7-4-1694. Reuben Forde and Mary DRUET announced their intentions to marry in the Kennett MM.....Reuben was a member of the Concord meeting. However, they did not marry in the Concord meeting or the Kennett.....you ought to look for The Birmingham records. FORD, PHILIP. Chester.October 23, 1766. To son Philip after my wife's decease, all that old tract of land of 100 acres that was granted me by my father William Ford, except 4 acres which I give to my daughter Jane, also that plantation in Brandywine Hundred which formerly belonged to Benjamin Ford, deceased, paying to his sister Mary £100 at 18. To son John house and land where I now dwell, paying to his sister Sarah £100 at 18 and to his siter Jane £40 at 18. Executrix: Wife Prudence. Wit: John Burnet, William Baldwin.[Annotation states that Jane married Thomas Collins of Brandywine Hundred prior to August 28, 1789, and refers to Deed Book X-300]. (note that in 1777, Benjamin Ford was dead....there is no will for him. Witnessing a will is no indication of a familial relationship....just as likely to be a friend or neighbor. Sandra I am looking for advice about Benjamin Ford, b. circa 1702 to Reuben Ford and Mary Druet Ford. Benjamin lived in the Brandywine hundred and many records are found in New Castle DE. There are some records for descendants in Chester Co. From what I have learned, Benjamin married three times. First wife was Sarah Rawson, the second wife...who I would love to identify ...is entirely unknown and the third wife is only known by "Mary". I don't know if there are Ford descendants on the list, but Benjamin was listed as administrator for two gentlemen, who apparently left no will. One was a James Bloomer, for whom I can find no information and the other was a John Vanaman, whose family appears to have come from Salem Co. NJ. I am wondering if there could possibly have been familial ties to either of these men. Information is very sketchy. I descend from Benjamin's daughter Jane. She has been listed as one of the children from the unknown second wife. She first married ? Williams and then John Golden in New Castle in 1761. Oddly, the Williams name followed her in our family. My grandmother's aunt was named Jane Williams Marley, about 100 years later. Notes indicate that later descendants didn't realize that Jane had been married prior to her marriage to John Golden. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to PA-OLD-CHESTER-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
