Please note that ALEXANDER LACKEY was born in 1717 and not 1777 as I had previously written. I need help with this MITCELL family. WILLIAM AND ISABELLA MITCHELL died in Sadsbury, Chester Co., 1758. Each one had a Will. I am trying to figure out this family because my gggggrandfather was RICHARD MCCLURE (of Sadsbury), son of DAVID MCCLURE and MARGARET LACKEY. WILLIAM MITCHELL in his will mentions a MARGARET LACKEY and says she is the granddaughter of his sister JEAN MITCHELL. My MARGARET LACKEY (b. 1746, marr. 20 June 1765, d. ????) was the only child of ALEXANDER LACKEY (b. maybe abt 1777; marr. 1745; d. 27 Apr 1747; buried Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church Cemetery) and ANN COCHRAN (dau. of JAMES AND ANN (ROWAN) COCHRAN; Ann married the REV, JOHN ROAN 3 years after Alexander died.). Her husband DAVID MCCLURE (b. abt 1744; d. ????) was the son of RICHARD AND JEAN (SAGE) MCCLURE of Paxtang, Lancaster Co., now Dauphin Co.). Margaret and David were married in Cumberland County. I can find land records for him in Sadsbury for 1774 and 1775 as well as on a Sadsbury tax list for 1774. I have no idea when either one died. Margaret's mother, Ann (Cochran) Lackey Roan, in her Will written 21 April 1788 does not mention her daughter or her daughter's husband but does mention her grandson, RICHARD MCCLURE. Beyond his possible birthdate, his death date, and where buried, and despite a lot of research, I only know that ALEXANDER LACKEY was an auditor for the Orphans Court of Chester County. Per WILLIAM MITCHELL's Will, JEAN MITCHELL could be the mother of ALEXANDER LACKEY and one of my direct ancestors. My research so far has been thru the internet, Will copies, books about Chester County from Ancestry.com and some correspondence with other researchers. Here are the people mentioned in each Will as well as any relationship shown (actual Will abstracts are at the end of this email): WILLIAM MITCHELL WILL, 1758 - People mentioned Wife Isabella (maiden name unknown) Only son John (who is a captive with the French) Brother: SAMUEL MITCHELL His grandson: William Sister: JEAN MITCHELL (married name never given) Her Grandson MITCHELL BLACK Her Granddaughter MARGARET LACKEY Brother-in-law: WILLIAM WADDEL Other Mitchell's mentioned: AGNES MITCHELL, widow of JAMES HENRY Margery, widow of JOSEPH MITCHELL WILLIAM MITCHELL His Son: William Wife's Sister's daughter: MARGARET JOHNSTON Servant: MARY EVANS Other People Mentioned: JOSEPH PARK His son: George JOHN DAVIDSON, JR.
