    3. Jeanne: I am interested in your LACKEY Family, because in the Quaker Wrightsboro Settlement, Georgia, where the LACKEY name appears and it is associated with MOORE and other Surnames of extreme interest to us. There you will also find my 5G-Grandparents, James J. & 2nd w., Hannah (Thomas) Mendenhall, E. Caln, PA>Guilford Co., NC>Wrightsboro, GA. Hannah.Thomas is the d/o Richard Thomas II, who came with his father, Richard Ap Thomas on the Morning Star from Wales. I have recently written of them to PaOldChester for their part of the Welsch mingration to Philadelphia. James J. Mendenhall died in Georgia and then Hannah returned to Deep River area in Guilford Co., NC, where other members of hers & James' family resided.. My son & I have been studing the Descenents of Richard Moore, son of John Moore & Mary Cuerton (see below). When I was first starting genealogy studies in May 1998, I researched this family in Philadelphia. I was and still am looking for a relationship to James Moore, Sr, my paternal 3-G-Grandfather, b. 1749 in NC and died 1826, Preble County, OH, having migrated there with his family from Eastern Tennessee in about 1804. ************** http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/2064/Moore.html Descendants of Richard Moore of Wrightsborough Transferring from above website: "Though an elderly man by the time he moved to Wrightsborough, through his many children and grandchildren Richard Moore was one of the most influential people in the town. Through them he is connected, in one way or another, to just about every family that lived there. I am descended from his great-grandson, Seaborn Moore." 1. Mordecai died 04 Nov 1842, IN. Various members of this MOORE Family Co-existed in Preble Co., Ohio and then in Henry & Wayne Counties, Indiana. My son & I felt the relationship was so strong that they must be related, or at best, very close friends. We did obtain their BLM records in Henry Couny, Indiana. WILLIAM AND ISABELLA MITCHELL died in Sadsbury, Chester Co., 1758. Each one had a Will. I am trying to figure out this family because my gggggrandfather was RICHARD MCCLURE (of Sadsbury), son of DAVID MCCLURE and MARGARET LACKEY. WILLIAM MITCHELL in his will mentions a MARGARET LACKEY and says she is the granddaughter of his sister JEAN MITCHELL. > > My MARGARET LACKEY (b. 1746, marr. 20 June 1765, d. ????) was the only child of ALEXANDER LACKEY (b. maybe abt 1777; marr. 1745; d. 27 Apr 1747; buried Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church Cemetery) and ANN COCHRAN (dau. of JAMES AND ANN (ROWAN) COCHRAN; Ann married the REV, JOHN ROAN 3 years after Alexander died.). Her husband DAVID MCCLURE (b. abt 1744; d. ????) was the son of RICHARD AND JEAN (SAGE) MCCLURE of Paxtang, Lancaster Co., now Dauphin Co.). Margaret and David were married in Cumberland County. I can find land records for him in Sadsbury for 1774 and 1775 as well as on a Sadsbury tax list for 1774. I have no idea when either one died. Margaret's mother, Ann (Cochran) Lackey Roan, in her Will written 21 April 1788 does not mention her daughter or her daughter's husband but does mention her grandson, RICHARD MCCLURE. > > Beyond his possible birthdate, his death date, and where buried, and despite a lot of research, I only know that ALEXANDER LACKEY was an auditor for the Orphans Court of Chester County. Per WILLIAM MITCHELL's Will, JEAN MITCHELL could be the mother of ALEXANDER LACKEY and one of my direct ancestors. > > My research so far has been thru the internet, Will copies, books about Chester County from Ancestry.com and some correspondence with other researchers. > > Here are the people mentioned in each Will as well as any relationship shown (actual Will abstracts are at the end of this email): > > WILLIAM MITCHELL WILL, 1758 - People mentioned > Wife Isabella (maiden name unknown) > Only son John (who is a captive with the French) > Brother: SAMUEL MITCHELL > His grandson: William > Sister: JEAN MITCHELL (married name never given) > Her Grandson MITCHELL BLACK > Her Granddaughter MARGARET LACKEY > Brother-in-law: WILLIAM WADDEL > Other Mitchell's mentioned: > AGNES MITCHELL, widow of JAMES HENRY > Margery, widow of JOSEPH MITCHELL > WILLIAM MITCHELL > His Son: William > Wife's Sister's daughter: MARGARET JOHNSTON > Servant: MARY EVANS > Other People Mentioned: > JOSEPH PARK > His son: George > JOHN DAVIDSON, JR. > Witnesses: MATHEW SHIELDS, ANDREW STERLING, THOMAS KER. > > ISABELLA MITCHELL WILL,1758 - People Mentioned > Sister's daughter: RACHEL WADDLE > Sister's daughter: MARGARET JOHNSON/JOHNSTON > JOHN BROUSTER > His wife ANN BROUSTER, alias ERWIN > Servant: MARY EVANS > > Any help is greatly appreciated on this family and/or help in any additonal information on Alexander Lackey, Margaret Lackey, or David McClure. > > Jeanne Delaney > > Below is the Abstract for each Will: > > MITCHELL, WILLIAM.
