This is property that Joseph Newlin, father of afsd Ellis, became seized of by virtue of an Indenture, dated 8 April 1755 (Lib/S pp/107), from George James and Alice his wife. It begins by Mill Creek and bounds the lands of Edward Robinson and Jonas Stidham, containing 122 acres w/6 acre allow. In sd Joseph Newlin's Last Will, dated 7 11th mo 1768, he devised sd plantation to his son, afsd Ellis. This is whereas sd Ellis Newlin, by Obligation bearing even date became bound unto sd James Lea in the sum of 800 pounds; conditioned for payment of 400 pounds w/int of 6% on 27 4th mo next.
