I recently located a will for James Allen of West Nottingham , whose will was proved 11 May 1733. He lists his wife, Mary, and children, Isaac who m. Margaret Whiteside[s], Ann who m. ? Harris, John, Morril who m. Alice Scarlett, James, William, Mary and Nathan. After some more searching I have located John Allen, [wife, Amy Cox] with children, John who m. Phebe Scarlett, Rebecca, Amy, Elizabeth, William, Joseph, Mary, Phebe, Benjamin. John died 16 Sep 1771 London Grove, Chester Co. Is there some relationship between James Allen and John Allen? Each one had a son who m. a Scarlett girl. Does anyone know if The History of Chester Co. PA by Futhey and Cope online? From the index that I have seen there is a lot of entries for these families. Will appreciate any and all comments or suggestions. Patsy Hand
The book is not on line, to my knowledge, but I own it......if I can be of help, let me know.....you will need to include full names, for me to be able to find folks...and, some sort of date would be helpful, even if approximate ( and page #s would be great). http://www.heritagequestonline.com/ has a huge number of these biographical works as scanned in PDF files (these are images of the pages, not the text). My local library system subscribes to the database, which allows for 50 pages of PDF file download at a time. I've been predominantly researching the line of Daniel Christman who settled in Chester/Montgomery counties in the 1730's, and this database has been a huge windfall for me. Some of the books I've gotten access to via the heritage quest database include: Historic homes and institutions and genealogical and personal memoirs of Chester and Delaware Counties , Pennsylvania Cope and Gilbert, 1904 History of Chester County , Pennsylvania : with genealogical and biographical sketches Furthy and Cope, 1881 Biographical and portrait cyclopedia of Chester County, Pennsylvania : comprising a historical sketch of the county Garner, 1893 If your local library system subscribes to this database, I highly recommend it. Obtw...am new to the list.
