Beerbower's Co, in the war of 1812.....he is listed on the roll on 10-11-1814. There are several Stubblebines...David and Lewis lived in the 1830s+, and Wm in the 1840s. He was an interesting character, being a member of the Battle-Axes, a strange religious sect....apparently in 1844 some were arrested and convicted...apparently Wm died in this faith, and and in the case of Snyder Vs Stubblebine, the validity of his will was questioned because of his membership....(it's principles were essentially those known as 'free love'...no wives and husbands, etc.) I looked up all the names in the will CD, and found a Sebastian STophelbine acting as the adm to the will of Conrad Snider, in Coventry, 1794. The following is the only will under any of the 3 spellings STUBBLEBINE, JOHN. Coventry. April 15, 1816.David Stubblebine, administrator. (apparently John died intestate, but there were adm. papers filed) Houck wills; Houck, FREDERICK. Coventry.December 6, 1794. March 20, 1795.Provides for wife Sarah. To daughter Catharin Houck my place in Coventry for which land of 47 acres she is to pay £160 specie. To daughter Elizabeth, wife of John Miller, and grandson Thomas Watts £10 each. To son Frederick and daughter Mary, wife of William Watts, 20 shillings each. Executors: Henry Christman, John Titlow.Wit: Henry Steits and "a duchman." (a John acted as a will witness in 1803, Coventry...and, a Geo lived in Lanc. Co, 1819)...no mention of anyone named Haug) -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
