Nathaniel Newlin was born March 19, 1690 in Concord, now Delaware County, Pennsylvania, the son of Nathaniel and Mary Mendenhall Newlin, and entered into a family life of affluence and deep religious conviction. His intention to marry Jane Woodward, the daughter of Richard and Jane Woodward was announced in the Concord MM in 1710/11, and took place at the Meeting at Middletown, 1st 2nd MO, 1711. Little is recorded about the life of these 2, and they seemed to disappear into the shadow of Nathaniel Jr's father, who was so active in local church life and political circles. Nathaniel Jr and Jane had the following children; a.. Rachel, the first child was born in 1712, and married in 1734, Wm. Walter, son of Godwin and Elizabeth Walter. Elizabeth died 9 June, 1802 . b.. Elizabeth was born in 1715, and died, unmarried, in 1741. c.. Nathaniel III was born in 1717 and married Esther Medcalf in 1735. d.. Joseph was born in 1718, and married Phebe Lewis, daughter of Samuel and Phebe Lewis, in 1740. Joseph died in 1768, and Phebe in 1775. e.. Jane was born ca 1719, and married, in 1737, James Hill. f.. Martha was born in 1721, and married Isaac Harvey, son of William and Judith Osborne Harvey. She died in 1806 and is buried in NC, where she and her family moved. g.. Mary was born ca 1722, and married James Morrison. She died in 1775 in Chester co, where they lived in Birmingham Twp. h.. Nicholas was born in 1723... i.. Nathan was born in 1728, and married, in 1751, Susanna Brown, the daughter of Daniel and Susannah Brown. They lived in Cecil County, MD. The children of Joseph and Phoebe Lewis Newlin; Ellis, Elizabeth, Nathaniel and Edith. Oh 12 2mo 17490, Joseph and Phebe obtained a certificate of removal from Concord to Newark Meeting. Between 17401 and 1750 they moved to Christiana Hundred, De,a nd became members of the Wilmington meeting. They built a house at 4th and West Streets, Wilmington, and were quite wealthy. This is pretty much what I have from some other sources - just some variation in dates some of which can be attributed to which dating system the researcher was using.
