    3. This may or may not be helpful, but here goes: When I was in Philadelphia two weeks ago, I visited the old Quaker Meeting House in downtown Philadelphia, just down the street from Independence Hall. They had a few relics hanging on the walls from old Quakers, and I noticed a reproduction of the map that showed all of the land owners and where their property was; the explanation hanging next to this reproduction stated that the land owners were assigned their property when they were still in England, before they came to Pennsylvania. I took a picture of the map, if anyone is interested. I found my early Richard Townsend ancestor on the map.
