I felt sure, as these folks were from Ireland, that they would be mentioned in the book of the Immigration of the Irish Quakers to PA 1682-1750, but no mention of them. There is note of an Alice Gibson in the New Garden MM records, as having come from Ireland, and was received 6mo 30, 1729....but, no mention of husband. I looked in the marriage records of the New Garden meeting, 1704-1799, and while there are mentions of the given names Alice, Allice, Ann, Isaac, Joseph and Thomas, there are no marriages for any of them in this meeting (Dang!) (the only mention of a Joseph was at the marriage of Robert Pyle and Deborah Jackson)....1748....from the position of the names of the guests at the marriage, I think the mother may have been Mary Jackson....the father was Saml. Jackson, who was dead by this time.) I looked for an Alice Jackson in area wills, with no luck in the right time frame. Here is Joseph's will (there is a son Joseph, but Alice seems as if she might be a granddaughter. the daughter of Ann Gibson Clark) GIBSON, JOSEPH. West Nantmeal.March 27, 1764. April 16, 1764.To wife Alice 1/3 of all estate. To daughter Ann Clark £50. To son Isaac £40. To daughter Rebecca £60. To son Joseph £40. To son Thomas £40. To son John £90 with 3 acres of wheat. To son James £40. To son Moses £70. To granddaughter Alice Clark £5.Executors: Sons Isaac and John.Witnesses: William Nisbet, Robert Brown. (I've been looking through the wills and note that there is a Thomas Gibson who is apparently NOT your Thomas....he is the son of Christian...so, beware....not everything you may find on these folks may be about YOUR folks) There is no mention of Joseph, Isaac or Thomas in THE HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY, by Futhey and Cope. There are lots of Gibsons included in the 1764 Chester Archives ; An Isaac lived in West Nantmeal, but owned no land.; a Joseph also lived n W. Nantmeal but owned no land; 2 Thomases - 1 (probably the one you want, lived but owned no land in W. Nantmeal and; 2, owned 100 acres in West Marlborough. There is also listed a Widow Gibson, who I imagine might be Joseph's widow.....she owns 750 acres in West Nantmeal. Sandra -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
