This is a COFFIN post from some very complicated research, which I did in 2002 to help my COFFIN-MENDENHALL Cousins, who were descendents of Matthew & Hannah (MENDENHALL) COFFIN. Matthew Coffin was born on Nantucket, MA>Guillford County, NC & Hannah Mendenhall was born in Chester County, PA>Guliford Co., NC with their two daughters each marrying a Hitchock man in North Carlonia. Within the Hedgecock ancestery -- William VI Hitchock married a Hannah Coffin in Maryland, which we were unable to identify as being of the NANTUCKET COFFINs nor for that matter, they were not from another unrelated COFFIN Families of the DELMARVA Area (i.e., DE, MD & VA). These COFFIN/COFFINGS were Quakers -- so look up in William Wade Hinshaw's Quaker Records. [NOTE: Deeds & notations presented here, should be double checked against original records.] One person, that gave advice, was the late David P. Coffin (Editor of the Coffin Newsletter), who suggestedd that we consider the COFFIN/COFFING family of Philadelphia, who was from England, but not any relationship to our Tristram Coffin md. Diones Stevens, both Immigrants from England. Sorry, but to make sense, I would have to leave the entire message unedited; therefore, I suggest that you print-out the entire message, which our webmaster helped in posting, as it was originally sent in a Rich Format, which Rootsweb did not acceept. And it was a very hard message anyway because of the many cross references with various family websites, one which was lost in the posting proccesses. Because of the references to Philaelphia, I shall do a cross-post with PA-OLD-CHESTER-L@rootsweb.com, which I subscribe to also.
