All the people mentioned....Morton Mortonson, Peter Peterson, Hance Urine, and Mathias Natsilas, were all enumerated in the 1683 Census of the Swedes on the Delaware.....a wonderful book by Peter Craig ,,,(and, they are all good examples of the name 'problems' that make researching these folks tough.) Hance Urine 'started out life' as Hanss Jurensson and became a resident on the Delaware by 1671 where, as Hance Urine he was shown as a resident of Upland.... Morton Mortonson is a bit easier...this is the not too different from the original Marten Martensson... Mortin was "born in Finland in Sweden" and arrived in New Sweden on the Eagle, in 1645. Peter Petersson was also known as Peter Petersson Stake, who was born in NJ in 1667.... He avoided using the name Stake as a surname and opted instead for the surname of Peterson, his father's patronymic. He was also known as Peter Mansson. I"ve not seen Sven Bond's name spelled Swan, but I seem to remember a Swan VanCulin, so it may well be...Craig gives the original name as Sven Andersson Bonde, which 'morphed' into Sven Bonde......the name later became Boon, and these folks were a the ancestors of Daniel Boon. I've not seen the name Mathias Natsilas spelled this way.... Nilsson is the spelling I've found. He was one of 3 sons of Nils Nilsson, from Fryksdalen, and arrived in 1656 on the Mercurius, with wife and 4 children...NIls Nilsson jr was sometimes called NIls Nilsson Repat, adding yet another name to the list to watch for. In the past there's been a lot posted on these "Swedish" citizens of New Sweden so, if interested, visit the list archives to read about them....reading about this t colony on the Delaware River & its history is fascinating.
