Oh my gosh, Aimee, that's her!!!!!! There are some minor differences, but that's exactly the information that I needed. You have broken down a major brick wall for me. Eleanor and George Stevenson had four children. The oldest, John, died within days of Eleanor in 1846. I believe that he and his brother, William Smith Stevenson, were born in PA. My great grandmother was Mary Jane Stevenson and she was born in Indiana. She married William Roan and they lived in Chester City. The youngest boy was Edgar W. Stevenson and he was born in Madison, IN. After Eleanor died George took his three remaining children and returned to Pa. In the 1860 PA census William, Mary Jane, and Edgar were living with their grandmother, Judith Dutton Stevenson. In the meantime, George returned to Columbus, IN where he remarried and had another family. William and Mary Jane lived with their families in Chester City for the rest of their lives. Edgar moved to Washington D.C. at some point and died there. All three are buried in Chester Rural Cemetery. I haven't looked into the 'Proceedings' yet, but I had to thank you for your help right away. Now I'm going to clean up the bricks and walk through that wall! Thanks again. Joan, Was your Mrs. William Roan living at the corner of 4th and Morton Sts. in 1885? I have a copy of a newspaper clipping from the Chester Times with a brief article which says she "is very much pestered with tramps." I can send it to you as an attachment if you would like it.
