    3. I can't really find anything much on Nathan.,....no mention in THE HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY, by Futhey and Cope, and he didn't leave a will in Chester or any of the surrounding counties....ditto for CHESTER AND IT'S VICINITY DELAWARE COUNTY....." by Martin.......or the Edgmont or Concord twp books. What do you actually know about him? For some reason, Nathan isn't listed as a child of Ephraim in either the MENDENHALL-NEWLIN ALLIANCE, by Able, or THE JACKSON FAMILY, by Cross...the last child they list is Rachel Jackson Yarnall, b 10-5-1710...so, it's confusing. What documentation do you have for a place for Nathan? That would be a help in knowing where to look for him. I checked various MM records, and while there were a ton of Jacksons in the NewGarden meeting records, nothing for Nathan. It appears you might be unsure of his death date, so have you checked to see if he appears on the 1790 Federal Census, for Chester? It's online. As you probably know, this, below, is his father's will.. However, the book EDGMONT, THE STORY OF A TOWNSHIP, by Jane Carter, says "it is possible that Ephraim had already given land to his sons". I've transcribed a lot of tax and landowners' lists, so I suggest you visit the Chester Co site, or the pagenweb archives to see if Nathan's name appears on any of those. JACKSON, EPHRAIM. To granddaughter Elizabeth and grandson John £5 each when 21. Remainder divided among all children living except Elizabeth and John.Executors: wife Rachel and friend Wm. Hammons. Proven by consent of all the parties interested. George is right about there being multiple Ephraims around.....here is another, in Bucks Co; and there are several more in the same area of Bucks Co...Robeson...so, be wary of what you find and which Ephraim is which. JACKSON, EPHRAIM. Robeson. March 9, 1768.Adm. to Ephraim and David, son of decd.Mary the widow renouncing. Sandra "Nathan Jackson, born about 1712, was the son of Ephraim and Rachel Newlin Jackson of Edgmont Township, Chester County, PA. He was given 30 pounds in his father's will in 1732. Are there any records of him afterwards in Quaker Monthly Meeting records or Chester County civil records? "l

    3. The book GENEALOGY OF THE JACKSON FAMILY, The Authentic History of Ephraim Jackson, The First Emigrant to America, 1687 and his Descendants, compiled by Israel Ernest Jackson of Boston, MA states in a footnote on page 14: "Nathan Jackson - dismissed by Society of Friends 11-25-1741/2 for marriage to one not a member." The only citation for the footnote is the research by Joseph A. Jackson. Since my original query about Nathan Jackson, I have been unsuccessful in contacting either Ernest Jackson or Joseph Jackson to find the source of the statement which is probably from a MM. As a descendant of Nathan Jackson of Guilford, Randolph and Rowan Counties in North Carolina I believe Nathan, son of Ephraim and Rachel, is probably the same Nathan in NC. Nathan appears on a Rowan County Poll Tax List with his son Edward in 1759. His neighbors in NC were Hollingsworths, Noblets, Mendenhalls, Chaffins and others from Chester County, PA who had traveled the Great Wagon Road southward into VA and onward to NC in the mid-1700s. His children and grandchildren married into the forementioned families in NC. Even though Nathan's family does not appear in MM records in NC, neither he nor any of his sons in NC participated on either side in the Revolutionay War, probably holding to the Quaker attitude toward war. Nathan is believed to have died before 1790 because he does not appear on the 1790 NC census. Hopefully, the sameness of these two Nathans can be proven or disproven in time.
