My greatgrandfather John C. Jackson was born in Pennsylvania in about 1815, of unnamed parents who were from Canada, according to 19th Century Cesus data. Family papers at the time of his death (no longer available) say that he was from "Chester, Chester County, PA". I suspect his parents were, or had been, Quakers who went to Canada right after the Revolution, but who returned to the PA, DE, MD area by 1788. My suspicion was that he was a son of a Thomas Jackson, born in New Brunswick (then Nova Scotia) in 1788, during the family exile, but whose birth was recorded in the New Garden Monthly (Friends) Meeting Minutes book. But there seems to be nothing written down anywhere that directly connects my GGF to this Thomas, or to any other early 19th Century Chester County Jackson. And many experts  from this List (including Sandy). and from the QUAKER ROOTS List have tried to find this missing link for me. Nothing yet! Drat!!! Bob Wilson Beaufort SC . 

I don't think I have ever posted here but I may have awhile ago. I am researching the Minor family. My mother was Joan Rosemary Minor, daughter of Warren Xavier Minor & Helen Olson, born in Ridgeway and raised in Bradford, PA. Warren Xavier Minor born in Ridgeway, PA His father was a well-known architect and builder in that area named: William Henry Minor who was married to His father was Stephen/Stephenson Lesie Minor who was married to Rachel Crow who died of TB. Stephen's second wife was Mary Ann Chamberlain. He had 3 children by Rachel and 9 by Mary Ann Chamberlain, daughter of Jacob and MaryAnn Chamberlain. Stephenson was born Jan 10, 1820 and died in a barn raising accident on July 8, 1870 in Jefferson County, PA. One of his sons died 2 days later and we assume he was invovled in the accident also. Family lore says that Stephenson was from Scotland and others say he was born in PA. Another thought is that he might be the son of John Updike Minor and Rebecca Maxwell, but I have no proof of this. Are there any Minors here or does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks for any help. Linda Hooker Lathrop
