Joan, As soon as Sandra gets back on the list after her medical issues calm down, I know she has been searching for a RUTH ANN FRAME for many years. So I do not know if there would be a tie in here for her RUTH. Goodness! I didn't know Sandra was looking for a Ruth Frame who could be a Chalfant. I have a Mary Chalfant born abt 1735, who married Nathaniel Jefferis in Chester PA (I think; hasn't been verified). Mary Chalfant's father was Isaac Chalfant; don't know her mother's name. My Townsends tie into this family because Nathaniel Jefferis' brother Samuel married a Margaret Townsend (a descendant of my immigrant Townsend) in 1759 at the Birmingham MM in Bucks Co, PA. Kim, Ruth Ann Frame1818-1900, is one of the toughest nuts to crack, on my family tree. I think I've searched pretty much everywhere in Chester, but have never been able to find parents for her, and believe me, I've looked. It's been a while, so things are a bit hazy, but I do remember looking through the Nathans' families, as there were Ruths scattered through the generations...but, I could never find where she 'fitted', if, indeed, she fitted at all. I've also toyed with the idea that Elisha Newlin 'might' have met and wed her in Ohio, as a census says their first child was born in Ohio...which is tough to figure out...and, Elisha, wife Ruth Ann and children moved to Belmont County, Ohio, after the 1850 federal census and before 1860, by which time Elisha was dead. Elisha owned land...a farm and a mill, in Chester, so there was no need to move away for land, which is often the reason for folks moving westward, so I wondered if they didn't make the move because Ruth Ann wanted to be close to her family, etc...it could also explain why she didn't move back to Chester, after Elisha's death......just a possible theory for which I have NOTHING in Ohio to back it up!.......so, if anyone has a 'extra' Ruth Frame, born around 1818, that they can't figure out, PLEASE let me know! Interestingly enough, Elisha Newlin's sister, Ellen Lousie Newlin 1826-1850, married Jacob M. Chalfant. Ellen was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church, formerly the Hepzibah Baptist Church, in Fallowfield, where many of the Newlins lived. It is the quilt made for the marriage of Ellen and Jacob, that I got for Christmas a few years ago.....remember? S. "Goodness!
