    1. Re: [PaOldC] John C. Jackson (born in about 1815)
    2. Bob Wilson
    3. Tim et al - His surname was 'Jackson" of which there were hundreds in Chester County back in the 1700-1820 period...and later. He married (was it for the first or second time?) in Lake County, IL in 1855, and the marriage (in which his name is recorded as JOHN C. JACKSON) is documented in state records as having happened but with no further detaisl available. Most of the Jacksons from that time in Chester County seem to have been Quakers, but he was a Roman Catholic at the time of his marriage. He consistently reported in 19th Century censuses after 1850 that his parents were from Canada (where they possibly may have gone briefly as Loyalist Quakers from Chester County...just after 1783). His father's name MAY have been a Thomas Jackson, born in Nova Scotia in 1788 to Quaker exile parents, but whose arrival on Earth may also have been recorded at that time in an old record from the New Garden Quaker Meeting. That particular Thomas was one of the probable hundreds of direct descendants of the Isaac Jackson who came from Ireland to New Garden with his family in 1725, and also of the Ephraim Jackson who came to what is now Delaware county as an indentured servant in 1684-85. --- On Fri, 1/1/10, Tim Robinson <[email protected]> wrote: From: Tim Robinson <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [PaOldC] County Confusion To: "Bob Wilson" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Date: Friday, January 1, 2010, 11:07 AM Bob, Maybe throwing out a name, Church affiliation, any wife or family members, other Pa. locations may help someone on here check further for information. Perhaps it should have read "Chichester", which was the old name for West Chester, in Chester County. However, even this data is not correct. In 19th Century Censuses of Illinois, Michigan and New York State, this man acknowledges Pennsylvania as his place of birth, but consistently claims having been born closer to the year 1815
