I have an old book "Breou's Original Series of Farm Maps Chester County PA"; W.H. Kirk & Co.; 1883. The school house is clearly drawn on property that borders property of Elias Latshaw, Jacob Hansberger & Samuel Wiand - on Creamery Road near the creamery & Ellis Woods Road. There is another school house drawn on the map on Schoolhouse Road, near Kulp Road - but that is north & west of the creamery. Looking for info on the school near the creamery since it was the school closest to the farm where my ancestor lived. He lived on the property of Lusetta (Brownback) Garber with his mother who was working as a servant in Lusetta's household. I have researched the census, tax, & estate records at the Chester County Archives. I have a work-in-progress family group chart I'd be happy to share.I appreciate any help with this family.Thank you,Sharon

I found in Concord Monthly Meeting notes: Reuben Ford requested a cert. to Newark Monthly Meeting on 12th of 2nd mo, 1697 to marry Mary Druet. Barclay
I have in my records a William Ford married to Ann Baldwin. They had at least three children; Mary Ford died 1802 married James Brinton 23 March 1745 at Chichester Meeting; John Ford married Prudence Clayton b. 17 March 1725 on 19 Oct. 1745 at Chichester Meeting; Sarah Ford b. apt. 1740 married Andrew Peterson b. 13 Aug. 1741 on 13 Feb. 1763 at Old Swedes Church, Wilmington, Del. I have children for both Mary Ford Brinton and Sarah Ford Peterson, if anyone wants them. Also the parents for Ann Baldwin, James Brinton, Prudence Clayton, and Andrew Peterson. Let me take this a step further. Reuben Ford had several sons. I know that, along with Benjamin, there was a William, Philip, Joseph, John, Reuben, and daughter Mary. Benjamin had several children by his wives all listed in his will of 1771, proved 1774 in New Castle. He had children Hannah Perkins, Benjamin, Mary Derickson, Elizabeth Howell, Jane Golden, 13 Philip, David, Joseph, Prudence, Jemima, Ann, and Sarah. Curiously, the will names Philip, Joseph and William as the youngest sons and Prudence, Jemima, Ann and Sarah. Son in law Thomas Perkins and Thomas Babb were executors of the will. It appears that the land record you mention may have been for brother Philip, as his decease preceded his brothers. William Ford, brother of Benjamin Sr. married an Ann Baldwin. These families were very intertwined with the Hussey and Perkins families. I recall that the Babb family appears in a genealogy that also includes William Ford. Needless to say, William named his children similarly. The will John Ford you included could be a son of this William,Sr; who also had a son named Benjamin. Odd that his wife would be a Prudence, unless he married his cousin, which wouldn't be that unusual. I see that a Baldwin was listed as a witness to the will. On second thought, this could be the will of John Sr., son of Reuben and Mary Ford and brother of Benjamin Sr. and William Sr. . Perhaps brother Benjamin named his younger daughter after his sister in law...???? In a will of Jane Heartley in 1798 (also in New Castle) , whe mentions kinsman Jacob Ford and the firm Benson and Heartley. John Ford alias John Benson,. I don't know who these Fords are, but I expect that they are of the next generation. All the repetitive names have my head spinning. It is a tangled mess. I will look for the Birmingham records. Was there also a Thornbury meeting?? It looks like I may have to head for Swarthmore College. Thank you again. I looked in CHESTER AND ITS VICINITY DELAWARE CO IN PA by Martin, and see there is apparently another family with a lot of the same names, which may just confuse things even more. Wm Cranston (born around1734) married Mrs Ann Ford, a widow, with 3 sons and 1 daughter, her maiden name was Johnson. She had 2 sisters, Rachel, married to Adam Prince and Betty to a Lamplugh. Mrs Fords children by her first marriage were Benjamin Ford, whio settled in New Jersey, Jacob and Wm, In Philly and Elizabeth m Robert Ferguson, John Keys of Chester. The Fords were ship carpenters.

Grace: List of Questions - do you have any of this information? 1) Where & when did Johannes Ault marry Magdalena Siegla? 2) Where did William Parker Zane marry Mary Ault? 3) Did William and Mary get married before or after the 1850 census? 4) Mary Zane had a widow's pension. Do you have a copy of her file? 5) PA Volunteers 118th Regiment organized in Philadelphia in 1862. Do you have a copy of William's enlistment papers? Or his compiled service record? 6) Were the Zanes living in Philadelphia at that time? 7) Where were William & Mary [Ault] Zane living in the 1860 census? 8) Where was Mary [Ault] Zane living in the 1870 census? 9) When/where did Mary [Ault] Zane die? 10) Do you know the birthdates/locations for any of the Zane daughters? 11) What are the Zane daughters' married names? I found a reference to Mary Zane's widow's pension. She applied for it in 1865. Both Joseph and Benjamin Ambler were living in Gwynedd township in Montgomery County, PA, in 1870. Benjamin has Molly Zane, age 9, living with him. That's pretty much as far as I can get without further information. Any little tidbit will help since I have no idea where to look for anything more. Thanks for the morning of fun research! ;>) Ginni Morgan >>> Sandra Ferguson <ferg@ntelos.net> 6/5/12 8:10 AM >>> This was sent me by a list member....can anyone help Grace with her recalcitrant Johann? S. : My great great great grandfather, Johannes (or Johann or John) Ault came to Pennsylvania from Wirtemburg, Germany in the early 1800's. I have not been able to find any record of when he came, nor any mention of him after he arrived, except for a marriage license between him and a second wife, Magdalena Siegla (at least that was the spelling on the certificate.) Also, I can find no record of his first wife, from whom I'm descended, nor how many children he had. I do know that he had one daughter, Mary, who was my great great grandmother. Mary Ault, married William Parker Zane in 1850. I have their marriage certificate, but it doesn't list the parents. (I do know from another source that William Parker Zane was the son of Nathan Zane and Hannah Stancliff.) They had three daughters: Mary, Georgiana, and Kate. William went to war and died in Andersonville prison of "disease and starvation". My dad has his death notification from the US Army. Mary was left destitute. A document we have seen states that one of the older girls lived with the Joseph Ambler family in Springhouse, and the other lived with Benjamin Ambler in Blue Bell, Montgomery County. I think the area became the town of Ambler during this time. The Amblers were Mary's friends who cared for her two daughters. Mary kept Kate with her and worked as a domestic. Kate was my great grandmother and died in 1951?. She provided quite a bit of family information, but not everything needed. Grace G. Rendall KSCE-LIFE! This was posted by a list member, and I hope one of you can lend a hand. Sandra My John Quigg was born about 1775 - maybe Ireland, maybe Chester County - don't know. First record of John is in the 1798 Coventry Twp. Tax list as a freeman & shoemaker. The 1800 Tax list has cordwainer, freeman crossed out & writtten over as inmate. The 1800 Coventry census has John with a wife & 2 males 0-10. John is also in Coventry for the 1805 tax list, 1807 Septennial census, 1810 federal census, & 1814 Septennial census. In May 1815, his Coventry estate was administered by wife Elizabeth - with Jacob Shantz & Henry Pennebacker also signing Admin. bond & filing an inventory. Elizabeth signed Letter of Attorney designating Daniel Rhoads to act for her. John Quigg's estate accounting was filed by Daniel Roads in Mar 1818. In May 1818, Elizabeth petitioned the court for guardians for her minor children: Henry & Abraham (my ancestor) - over 14; & Catherine, Peter, Samuel & Elizabeth - minors under 14. Guardians were Peter Miller & Andrew Detwiler (Andrew was husband of Magdalena Rhoads - a d/o John Rhoads). In 1800, John Quigg purchased land in Coventry from Elizabeth Longacre, John Rinehart & Isaac Shantz - widow & administrators for the estate of Peter Longacre. John & wife Elizabeth sold the Coventry property in 1808 to Christian Forgaus. Elizabeth Quigg married Christian Moyer in 1820 at Zion Lutheran Church. In the records of East Vincent Reformed Church: "Elizabeth, wife of Christian Moyer & daughter of John Rhoads, died 17 May 1828, aged 47-4-4." Christian Moyer first married Elizabeth Root, d/o Joseph, before Dec 1800 when Joseph wrote his will. Christian was married to Elizabeth Root until at least 1816 when they sold property. By 1820 census, Christian Moyer was a widower with 4 children in his household. In Dec 1820, he married Elizabeth Quigg. In Oct 1822, Christian's wife Elizabeth (Rhoads) died. Was Elizabeth Quigg (widow of John Quigg) a daughter of John Rhoads? Or was Christian married to 3 different Elizabeths (Root, widow Quigg & Rhoads)? Another possibility for the surname of Elizabeth, widow of John Quigg, is Longacre. John & Elizabeth Quigg purchased property from Elizabeth (Shantz) Longacre (estate of husband Peter Longacre). Elizabeth (Shantz) Longacre's brother, Isaac Shantz, assisted Elizabeth with the settling of Peter Longacre's estate. Elizabeth (Shantz) Longacre's other brother, Jacob Shantz, assisted Elizabeth Quigg with John Quigg's estate. So...maybe Elizabeth, widow of John Quigg was a d/o Peter & Elizabeth (Shantz) Longacre. So I'm looking for info on the above named families, in Chester County, between John Quigg arriving in Coventry in 1798 & early-mid 1800s. These families have interrelationhips & interactions. I'm trying to piece them together in hopes of figuring out the maiden surname of John Quigg's wife. I hope I have not completely confused you. > From: ferg@ntelos.net > To: snkgenealogy@hotmail.com

from a lookup; James and his brother Wm Browne were the sons of Richard and Mary Brown of Puddington, England. James married in NJ, where he at first lived. His male children are James, Wm, Jeremiah, Clayton, and David. The only child listed for brother Wm was a Joseph, although there may be others, for he married 4 times. James is listed as an original land owner in Concord, purchasing his land in 1683, (after his arrival to NJ in 1679.) He never lived on this land, but resided in Chichester. James donated 2 acres of land, to be used to build the Chichester meeting house and burial ground, in 1686.
