Since Berks was formed...can't remember exact date, but it was between 1740 and 1750, long before your family interest..... any records for these folks , baptismal, marriage or others, would be found in Berks not Chester . I can tell you that the names Kreglo/Kregeloh/Craiglow do not appear in any Chester Co wills prior to 1830...for ones after that you may look through the index of wills on the Archives and Records site. I checked the index of Futhey and Cope's History, and none of the names appear in any of the earlier records they included...nor are they on any tax records. So, there is no indication that they were ever in Chester County. S. I also looked at assorted Berks Co church records, with no luck..... "Looking for information on two families....since a part of Berks County came from Chester Co...hope their names show up somewhere here. Henry KREGLO/KREGELOH/CRAIGLOW.... Catherine KREGLO/KREGELOH/CRAIGLOW born February 18, 1791 (date came from tombstone, not sure about it's accuracy). Catherine married a John Fink in Upper Bern Twp. in 1808. Looking for Catherine's baptism record and parentage. Henry Krelo was a witness at her wedding and also a witness on her husband's Will."

I've been looking at wills, in an attempt to discover some that might help, but in several cases there are more than one possibility. I'll include some, but wills aren't necessarily any good in 'location' specific pieces of land....they can be, but no promises. HAYES, JOHN. West Marlborough.August 30, 1762. December 10, 1762.To 4 sons David, William, Jesse, and Abram Hayes all my lands to be divided allowing David 2 shares. Provides for wife Hannah. To eldest daughter Ann £50. To youngest daughter Hannah £50 at 18. Remainder equally divided. Executors: Henry Chalfant and Mordecai Hayes, my brother. Letters to Hayes, the other renouncing.Witnesses: Andrew McCoy, Mary Pusey, William Hayes. David died in 1827 and left no will, but there are adm. papers on file, along with an inventory of his possessions...so, that could will contain more land info...no way to know unless you get a copy of these papers from Archives and Records. This is the earliest area will for a Mordecai Hayes; HAYES, MORDECAI. Newlin.July 5, 1824. August 16, 1824.Provides for wife, who is not named. To son Eli the privileges reserved in the deed I made to him; also two small lots of land as an addition thereto. To son Mordecai, during life, the messuage & remainder of land whereon we now live, which at his death shall descend to his son Jacob, paying to my son Eli $375.Executors: Sons Eli and Mordecai Hayes.Wits: Joshua Speakman, John Speakman. No Jacob Hayes left will or adm papers through 1876.
Dear list~ I am looking for the location of two or perhaps three different Hayes farms, all located in Chester County. The first farm is that of Jacob Hayes (1804-1877), son of Mordecai Hayes (1780-1847), son of Mordecai Hayes (1738-1824). Jacob is listed as farming in Newlin Township in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses with his wife Caroline (Phillips?) and children John P., William M., Mary H. and Alvina E. Hayes. As late as the 1900 census, his grandson, J. Carroll Hayes, Esq., was recorded as living in Newlin Township. It is also my understanding from my mother who recalls visiting J. Carroll and his family, that this branch of the Hayes family had a mill on the property. While I can find Jacob online in the census, I can't find anything that will tell me where he actually farmed. Does anyone on the list know that bit of information? The second Hayes farm is that owned in the mid 1700s by John Hayes (1726-1762). John Hayes is listed in Futhey & Cope, p. 185, on the West Marlborough List of Taxables in 1753. John appears to have had a son David Hayes (1750?-1827?) who may have had a daughter Ann [Hayes] Keeper(s) (1770?-1838). Did David inherit his father's farm? A Davis Hayes paid excise taxes between 1776 & 1783. Did Ann inherit her father's farm? Did David have a farm or not? If so, where was it located? I do know that Ann & her husband William Keepers bought land located in Newlin & West Marlborough from Mordecai Hayes in 1791, but I don't have a copy of the deed and I don't know where it is actually located. Does anyone happen to have this information? Depending on which Mordecai Hayes sold this property, I believe it possible that Ann [Hayes] Keepers and Mordecai Hayes were either great-uncle and niece or first cousins once removed. I thank you all in advance for any assistance you are able to give. Also, if some of this information has been provided to me in the past, please forgive me as my records are all in boxes at this time. According to Futhey and Cope, Rachel was married to James Starr, son of John, and whose grandfather is said to have served in the Parliamentary army as a captain of infantry, and afterwards removed to Ireland, lived in Oldcastle, county Meath. By Mary, he had children John 1774, James, 1676; Elizabeth 1684; Susannah 1686; Jeremiah 1690; Moses 1692; Isaac 1697. James and Rachel, his wife, came to Pa in 1712, and settled in New Garden. Thank you for the information which you listed under "Some Early Arrivals copied from Minshall Painter of Middletown, Delaware CO., PA...".. There was "Pennick, John, Edward, Christopher resided in Bethal, Edward and Christopher died 1732 and probably from Cork Ireland." I have in my Starr line a listing for Rachel Starr b. 31 Oct 1764 d. 7 Jan 1822 and married John Pennock. Your next listing is for the son of Christopher Pennock, who came from Tepperary, Ireland before 1685....removed to West Marlborough... It is believed Rachel's father came from Ireland and they lived in London Grove, Chester Co., PA. Anyone know if this is the John Pennock who married Rachel Starr(daughter of Thomas and Sarah Starr.) I have been reading the flow of data on the subject couple and would like to throw in some other info. My mother-in-law, Edna Mildred MILLER (1902-1988) was descendant of the couple. In her personal papers she had a copy of a paper by Bart ANDERSON, which provided in detail his research on the New Garden Meeting as well as the family of John MILLER. I learned that Mr. ANDDERSON was a long time member of the Chester Co Historical Society and that he was known for his research on early county families. His work is quite detailed, including deeds, wills, marriages, meeting records, etc. Unfortunately, he passed away before his work on the Miller's was completed. John and Mary were the parents of 9 children, all but the youngest were born in Ireland. The children were Joseph, James,,Mary,Martha,William,Sarah,Elizabeth,Elinor, and Susanna. My MIL had worked from her generation backward. Using her data and that of Mr Anderson, I was able to link them together somewhat in the middle. I have a Family Tree Maker file of the data and would be happy to share or discuss what I have found. I am afraid that I can shed no light on the connection between John and Gayen MILLER. The only mention of Gayen in Mr Anderson's work is, as previously reported by another writer, he was elected in 1714 to replace John on the Provincial Assembly. I can be contacted at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . Note, however, that because of long term travel plans, I will probably not be able to respond before the last week in Aug. B. M. I'm sure you know, but there are many Woods in Chester county, and a slew named John...so, it might be easier to approach it from what I assume is the other end. By that I mean I'm theorizing that you have a John Wood in your line...if so, who did he marry? When? What documentation do you have for him?.....armed with a bit more info, we might be able to find him among all the other John Woods. Sandra " To all Wood researchers:? Who is this John Wood, found in the 1820 census in London Grove with one adult male over 45, one 26-45, 3 males from 16-26?"

If memory serves, there were 5 or 6 John Wilsons who married there.....! Here's another Ephraim Wilson....adm. papers. WILSON, EPHRAIM. Londongrove.
