    1. Houck and Stubblebine
    2. Sandra Ferguson
    3. from a lookup: The only mention of the name is a Henry Stophelbine, who was a member of Capt. Beerbower's Co, in the war of 1812.....he is listed on the roll on 10-11-1814. There are several Stubblebines...David and Lewis lived in the 1830s+, and Wm in the 1840s. He was an interesting character, being a member of the Battle-Axes, a strange religious sect....apparently in 1844 some were arrested and convicted...apparently Wm died in this faith, and and in the case of Snyder Vs Stubblebine, the validity of his will was questioned because of his membership....(it's principles were essentially those known as 'free love'...no wives and husbands, etc.) I looked up all the names in the will CD, and found a Sebastian STophelbine acting as the adm to the will of Conrad Snider, in Coventry, 1794. The following is the only will under any of the 3 spellings STUBBLEBINE, JOHN. Coventry. April 15, 1816.David Stubblebine, administrator. (apparently John died intestate, but there were adm. papers filed) Houck wills; Houck, FREDERICK. Coventry.December 6, 1794. March 20, 1795.Provides for wife Sarah. To daughter Catharin Houck my place in Coventry for which land of 47 acres she is to pay £160 specie. To daughter Elizabeth, wife of John Miller, and grandson Thomas Watts £10 each. To son Frederick and daughter Mary, wife of William Watts, 20 shillings each. Executors: Henry Christman, John Titlow.Wit: Henry Steits and "a duchman." (a John acted as a will witness in 1803, Coventry...and, a Geo lived in Lanc. Co, 1819)...no mention of anyone named Haug) -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. Jeanne....There is a Wilson Mc???? in Sadsbury, but it is illegible to me, but there is a dotted 'I' in the last part of the last name, so it doesn't look like McClure.......maybe McUrin or McMinn? something similar to that. Ancestry has it indexed to McClure, but it doesn't look like that is the surname to me! 1840; Census Place: Sadsbury, Chester, Pennsylvania; Roll: 453; Page: 125. It is not much better on Genealogy.com's images either. But it doesn't look like McClure to me. There is a William McLure in W. Nantmeal, Chester Co - 1840; Census Place: West Nantmeal, Chester, Pennsylvania; Roll: 453; Page: 42. If you want, I can send you the image.... I am not convinced the last name as it is written is really MCCLURE. Thanks, Jeanne ______________________________

    2. Christman, Mark
    3. http://www.heritagequestonline.com/ has a huge number of these biographical works as scanned in PDF files (these are images of the pages, not the text). My local library system subscribes to the database, which allows for 50 pages of PDF file download at a time. I've been predominantly researching the line of Daniel Christman who settled in Chester/Montgomery counties in the 1730's, and this database has been a huge windfall for me. Some of the books I've gotten access to via the heritage quest database include: Historic homes and institutions and genealogical and personal memoirs of Chester and Delaware Counties , Pennsylvania Cope and Gilbert, 1904 History of Chester County , Pennsylvania : with genealogical and biographical sketches Furthy and Cope, 1881 Biographical and portrait cyclopedia of Chester County, Pennsylvania : comprising a historical sketch of the county Garner, 1893 If your local library system subscribes to this database, I highly recommend it. Obtw...am new to the list. 3. I recently located a will for James Allen of West Nottingham , whose will was proved 11 May 1733. He lists his wife, Mary, and children, Isaac who m. Margaret Whiteside[s], Ann who m. ? Harris, John, Morril who m. Alice Scarlett, James, William, Mary and Nathan. After some more searching I have located John Allen, [wife, Amy Cox] with children, John who m. Phebe Scarlett, Rebecca, Amy, Elizabeth, William, Joseph, Mary, Phebe, Benjamin. John died 16 Sep 1771 London Grove, Chester Co. Is there some relationship between James Allen and John Allen? Each one had a son who m. a Scarlett girl. Does anyone know if The History of Chester Co. PA by Futhey and Cope online? From the index that I have seen there is a lot of entries for these families. Will appreciate any and all comments or suggestions. Patsy Hand

    1. Wilson McClure?, 1840 Census, Chester Co., Sadsbury
    2. Wayne County Jeanne
    3. Could someone check an 1840 census that is not on Ancestry.com to see if Chester Co., Sadsbury Township, has a WILSON MCCLURE listed and, if not, what the census has as the last name. I am not convinced the last name as it is written is really MCCLURE. Thanks, Jeanne

    1. Robert Lamborn
    2. Another vrsion of this quaint story found at GenealogyLibrary.com. Robert Lamborn (I). Robert Lamborn was born in East Hempstead, Berkshire, England, in the year 1697. He was the son of Josiah Lamborn, born about 1659, who had also five other children, named Thomas, Sarah, Maria, John and William. He appears by the old English records to have been born of Episcopalian parents, as the baptismal records in East Hempstead show. We have no definite information of his school-days or of his occupation in England. Evidently he was susceptible to parental restraint, and of an impressible nature. At the age of seventeen he formed an attachment for an estimable young lady named Sarah Swayne, a daughter of Francis Swayne, of Berkshire. This attachment was not encouraged by the parents of either, and all attempts to subdue their tender passion only intensified it. With dismay he learned of the intention of the Swayne family to leave England and settle in America, which they did in 1711. Robert did not know in what part of the new world his love had gone, so he was debarred from even the pleasure of an occasional letter. Their separation did not weaken the affection of these young hearts; and Robert, resolved to find his love, determined that old ocean should not do what parental veto, time and distance could not do. With this determination in his mind he sought from his parents their consent to his going to America. After many tears and admonitions, farewell was said forever to loved ones, and Robert set sail for America to find a new life and an old love. He arrived in America in 1713, found his way through the forests of Pennsylvania, and reached Philadelphia on a favored day. He was overjoyed to see Francis Swayne enter a store in that city. With much trepidation as to how Mr. Swayne would receive him, he awaited his exit from the store. To his great joy Francis Swayne showed himself glad to see his young friend, and invited him to his home, in the vicinity of what is now London Grove, saying, "I have only one horse, but we will ride and hitch." Robert would gladly have walked had it been a thousand miles. One rode a few miles and hitched the horse some distance ahead of the walking traveler, who, on coming up to the horse, would ride until he had passed the other, when he would also hitch the horse and walk until passed again, thus giving both horse and riders an occasional rest; and each hitch bringing the young lover nearer to his dear girl, who was all unconscious of the coming meeting. The old gentleman managed the hitches so that he had the last ride, and getting to the house first sent Sarah out to meet Robert. Thus a most delightful and romantic reunion was effected. The opposition of her parents was withdrawn, as by this time they were further removed from the cause of their objection--that being their youth. They were soon afterwards married by Friends' ceremony, and Robert adopted the forms of that Society, and found its ordinances delightful. This occurred in the house of John Baily, near the old hotel (formerly called Worth's Tavern). From this romantic and chivalrous union began the line of the numerous Lamborn family in America. 3. Hi there; Read the post from Sandra Ferguson regarding new members posting who they are working on......here goes; I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and now live in Manitoba, Canada. In 1966 Canada was preparing for it's centennial celebration in 1967. At that time, the COHOE family was having annual reunions. We decided to do a family tree book for our centennial project. My mother was on the committee and I was comandeered into helping her. In short, I was hooked. The result of this project is the book, Andrew Cohoe and Descendants. Two small children and a hubby who moved a lot, curtailed my interest. Now, retired and partially disabled, I have tons of time for a hobby. However, this is NOT a hobby it IS an obsession. Many of my early lines were from Pennsylvania. Most of them were Quakers and since they wouldn't join the armed forces during the conflict between the colonies and Britian, many of them emmigrated to Canada; BALL, DENNIS, COHOE, HEACOCK, JOHNSON, MORGAN to name a few. Then there were the others, the United Empire Loyalists, as they came to be known; DEPEW, CRAWFORD, BALL (different line), JOHNSON (again a different line), SHOWERS, SPRINGER, SERVOS. Many of these served in Butler's Rangers. So you can see, my roots do grow deeply in Pennsylvania soil, some in Chester County. Here are a couple of lines I'm digging into currently; Rebecca JACKSON b. 25 Mar 1695 Oldcastle, County Meath, Ireland d. Bef 1746 London Grove Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA married 10 Nov 1716 Ballytore Meeting, County Kildare, Ireland Jeremiah STARR b. 17 Aug 1690 Old Castle, Ballyhaise Cavan, County Meath, Ireland d. 06 Jan 1775 London Grove Township. Chester County. Pennsylvania, USA Have descendents as these are my 6th vg grandparents. Also have some info on Jeremiah's antecedents. What I'm looking for is info on Rebecca's ancestors. Also working on the HEACOCK family, again 6th g grandparent; Jonathan HEACOCK b. Abt 1680 Slindon, Eccleshall Parish, Staffordshire, England d. 1764 Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA married 1710 Wolverhampton Monthly Meeting. Staffordshire, England Ann TILL b. 13 Jul 1681 White Grove, Staffordshire, England d. (no date) I have lots of info on this line. Mostly interested in any related stories about their lives, etc. I must confess, I've become hooked on their lives and stories as well as their genealogy.
