Hello List, If anyone is going to the Scranton Public Library soon, I would appreciate a look-up in their microfilmed newspapers. I am at a loss about three children who all died on the same day - February 28, 1898. They are part of my family, but I do not know how they are connected exactly. They are all buried side by side in my JONES plot in Dunmore Cemetery. Dunmore Cemetery has no additional information. February 28th could be the day they died or they were buried. Their names are: Alfred JONES, age 7 Elizabeth JONES, age 7 days Leah JONES, age 7 days (I am assuming Elizabeth and Leah are twins) A search has already been done with the Interlibrary Loan Program with the Scranton Public Library. A researcher could not find anything in regard to a obituary or news article. For three children to all die so young and on the same day, it must of been something horrific like a fire..... I am guessing they were siblings. There has to be a news record of this tragedy somewhere. Adult names buried in the same section who could be possible parents are: Thomas H. and Rachel Jones, William G. and Martha Jones, James and MaryAnn Jones and Evan S. and Catherine Jones. Some I feel may have been too young or too old to be the parents, but it is worth the consideration. I would like to pay tribute to their memory. These precious children are a mystery. Leah and Elizabeth were just newborns. We can not search any census, because they were born and died between census years. I guess my only other alternative would be to send away for a death record. Thank you for any help, Carolyn
