Gee, 1931 isn't that long ago! Find out what "local paper" it was in try to go to the state to find out if you can locate a microfilm! Our local paper is stored at the local Public library in OH, but varies in different states, I suppose! You might be able to check with the interlibrary loan places too! AGLL in your local library check this! Go from there. Most places charge ya about $3.25 per film or so! FHL might have some newspapers, but mostly vital records, thought they go farther back than that! Usually they have the name of the funeral home. Most funeral homes keep records as they supply the information for the death certificate and I have found in my case they kept a copy of the obituary. Sandy in Mass Sandy: Tried it. Funeral home says they don't have any records going back that far. Strange because the particular funeral home was in business back in the late 19th Century.
