Thomas - email me off-list if you would like a scanned copy of the photos.) ------- Samuel SHEFFLER Funeral services for Samuel Sheffler, 92 year-old veteran of the Civil War, whose death occurred at his home in Homer City at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, will be conducted in Coral Lutheran Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, in charge of his pastor, the Rev. C. E. Held. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. -------- W. C. THOMAS Leaving 63 descendants, including two great-great-grandchildren, W. C. Thomas, 84, veterinary slregon (surgeon?) of Marion Center, died at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday on the farm on which he was born October 26, 1852. Death was attributed to complications following a sunstroke sustained last summer. Becoming of age Mr. Thomas purchased a part of the old Thomas farm of several hundred acres owned by his father, Hiram Thomas of Rayne township, near Marion Center. Besides being a stock raiser for many years he was the community's doctor of stock and his advice was considered highly among his friends and neighbors. He kept actively in his profession, driving his own car to attend to cases. Just a year ago he purchased a saddle horse, as the roads would not permit use of his automobile. His jolly nature and activity through life made him many friends. He raised a large family and gave them all a splendid start when they were ready to enter their own adult lives. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Thomas; a daughter, Mrs. Florence BURNHEIMER of Indiana; six sons: Charles S. Thomas of Home, Jesse E. Thomas of Tanoma, Harry H. Thomas of Glen Campbell, William M. Thomas of Marion Center, Ben W. Thomas of Marion Center, and Wess C. Thomas of Indiana, 29 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in his late residence at 2 p.m. Saturday, in charge of the Rev Messrs. F.A. Edmond and C.A. Waltman. Interment will be in the private cemetery on the Thomas farm. --------- Mrs. Susan (M'GEE) HOPKINS Mrs. Susan McGee Hopkins, 46, wife of Homer G. Hopkins died of complications yesterday at her home in South Mahoning Township. She was born in East Mahoning Township on May 11, 1890, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McGee, both deceased. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hopkins leaves four brothers and five sisters: James McGee of Marion Center, Milton McGee of Marion Center, Mrs. Martha STREAMS of Marion Center; Telford McGee of Timblin, Jefferson County; William McGee of Emlenton, Venago County; Mrs. Irvin ELKIN of Smicksburg; Mrs Ida BRADY of Rayne Township, Indiana County; Mrs Daniel YEOMANS of Creekside; and Miss Grace McGee near Marion Center. Funeral services will take place in the Ambrose Baptist Church, near Marion Center, at 2 p.m. Sunday, with burial in the Marchand Cemetery. --------- Charles N. ANDERSON Charles N. Anderson died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at his home on the Herminie-Irwin road, near Herminie. He had been ill since January 15 of a complication of diseases. He was born July 12, 1878 in Kansas City, Butler County, and lived in Herminie the past eight years, going there from Jamestown, N.Y. Mr. Anderson was an employee of the Youghiogheny and Ohio Coal Company at the Wyano mines. Surviving are his widow: two children, Virginia ANDERSON, at home, and Mrs. E.J. LANFORD of Wichita, Kas. He is also survived by his father, W.O. Anderson of North Apollo; a sister, Bertha, of North Apollo, and three brothers, J.A. of Pittsburgh; R.T. of Indiana, and W. F. of Natrona Heights. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home, in charge of the Rev T. W. Burgess, of the Herminie United Brethren Church. Interment will be made in the Madison Cemetery.
