I have written and called several of the Pittsburgh local cemetery's and I have found that most are understaffed. At Homewood, I located my families plots only after walking the entire cemetery. The small shack on the property has maintence people who know little of its contents nor of their whereabouts. At Allegheny, which seems to be very active and everyone overworked and busy, I did find a sensative lady who with patience and a plot plan, guided me to the proper locations. I went to Wheeling WV and the local former popular cemetery Pensinula, is now under City Engineering and again no plot plan nor did they feel any obligation other to keep the grass cut, lock and unlock the gates and try to discourage vandelization of the property. I live in Louisiana and I am currently on my fourth trip up to locate my little gems of the unfolding mystery. In Wheeling in Nov. snow covered all the stones. This weeK I got a photo of my ancestor. The old fashioned way seems to work best. I love the internet and the help of "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness" but garnering small bits of information at times is very tedious. Good luck Nancy. Search Keyword RAOGK and perhaps someone will go on site for you and see if you get better results.
