    1. [PA-OBITS] OBIT: ROBERT CRATTY
    2. I have no further information on the following. Newspaper unknown. DEATH OF ROBERT CRATTY---Mr. Robert CRATTY died at the old CRATTY homestead near Prospect at 4 o'clock on the morning of Saturday, August 20th, 1887, and had he lived until Wednesday following would have been 103 years of age.  Robert CRATTY was born near Chambersburg, Pa., August 24, 1784.  His father was born in the province of Ulster in the north of Ireland, became a soldier in the British Army, and served during the French war, 1758, in America.  Discharged from the army he remained in the colonies and became a Pennsylvania farmer, married a Franklin county lady, like himself of Scotch-Irish descent.  In 1786 the family removed to Western Pennsylvania and settled in Butler, where Mr. CRATTY attended school, and enjoyed the advantages of a Christian home and sanctuary privileges, and at the age of twenty years, faithful to his early religious instructions, and ture to his convictions of duty, he united with the Presbyterian Church, Rev. I. BRACKEN, pastor, and for nearly eighty-three years he has been a faithful and consistent member of that household of faith.  In 1813 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served as a Lieutenant at Fort Erie, Pennsylvania. In 1817, with his wife and children, he emigrated to Ohio.  In 1819 he bought land--one hundred and sixty acres, near Prospect, built a log cabin, and in a few years provided a home where he spent sixty-eight years.  His funeral took place Monday and was very largely attended.
