HI..he died in Philadelphia and so I don't know in which of the various cemeteries he may be. He was not of any particular religion that I know of. I don't know when his wife died, either, but my grandmother, their only child, died in California so she is buried out here. I am thinking that I will have to go to Philadelphia myself to sit and sift through all the records as no one else can do that for me. thank you for your help, Amy CA
Dear Gary, Thank you for those suggestions. I will try them. Amy California
Do you know where he is buried? Do you have a town where he lived, check the local cemeteries. You might want to see where other related family members are buried. Then you can probably find the date of his death! Where did he die? If it was in a city or town that has ex- isting city directories check those. That could narrow your search to a couple of years. Cemetery records could also help if you know where he lived. Contact the local genealogical society and/or public library and they may be able to assist you. This may be a vague question that cannot be answered, but here goes. I have only narrowed down the decade in which my ggrandfather died,by searching the census records. I have no specific date of death for him therefore where do I go from here? I cannot ask for an obituary nor death records without a specific date and it is 1900-1910 so SSDI is no help. Any suggestions for a novice such as I? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Amy
