    3. Thank you for your reply but I have already tried. I'm afraid my only hope is an obituary! I have found one for his wife Cynthia (nee Wells) who predeceased him, also for other family members who died earlier but for some strange reason, Robert L. Hunter (1814-1899) has eluded me. I might add for several years now! ----- Original Message ----- From: <Szyq7@cs.com> To: <PA-OBITS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 3:59 PM Subject: Re: [PA-OBITS] PA-OBITS > In 1899, the deaths were usually recorded in the county courthouses. 2. In 1899, the deaths were usually recorded in the county courthouses. The state took over in 1906. Clifford is not near Luzerne Co. so would suggest you check out the courthouses in Lackawanna or Susquehanna counties. I see there is a volunteer for Lackawanna Co. on the Random Acts list. Eleanore

    3. Looking for an obituary for Robert L. Hunter, born May 17th, 1814, in Orange County, NY, died 1899 possibly in Susquehanna/Lackawanna or Luzerne County as Clifford is in close proximity to all three. *unfortunately, I only know the year. He is buried in Willowview Cemetery, Clifford, Pa. I have not been able to find a death certificate for him even though there should have been one issued in the year 1899. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Szyq7@cs.com> To: <PA-OBITS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 1:09 PM Subject: Re: [PA-OBITS] PA-OBITS > I just joined this list. 3. You can write to the Free Library of Phila. and request an obit give them Name, address, spouse, and date of death (basically all you know of deceased). Enclose SASE and 1$ for each obit (check or money order) it takes about 1 week to hear reply. I always post surnames included on page to Phila. list.
