    3. Hello PA-CENSUS-LOOKUP, My husband's grandfather, George D. Davies, immigrated to Carbondale or at least ended up and married there. He immigrated from Glais, Ynisymond, South Wales about 1887 when he was about 17 or 18 years old. I've tried searching by which port he entered, which boat, and about the woman he married on Dec. 16, 1896,--Francis, (that's how women's names were spelled then), Amanda Stanton who was born August 1876 in Waymart, Wayne County, PA and died Dec. 1917 in Carbondale. His father David D. Davies, I believe was listed in the Polk Directory of Carbondale, can't remember the year so I believe he had to have immigrated also. George's daughter Isabelle Francis Davies was firstborn in Oct., 1897 and lived in Carbondale all or most of her life and was married to Lewis Neal died in Okinawa as a PFC. His wife was Dorothy and they had a son named Gary Wayne Neal born about Dec. 1945. I would like to know what the 1876 and 1896 census says about Francis Amanda and her family and about George especially. I have the "1871 Census for Ynisymond, Cadoxton, in Ynisymond Cottage:conducted 3 April 1871: Swansea Family History Centre" with George and his family, and I also have the 1930 census for Carbondale where George is 59 years old, listed as widowed and a roomer. He was working as a machinist for the railroad. I have a copy of a document, a Continuance In Service, from the Railroad Retirement Board in Lackawanna County, The Delaware & Hudson Corp. Co., where he was permitted to continue after his 65th birthday in service. This dated 1937-he was 67. I would like to know more about George and his whereabouts, especially his entry into the United States and his railroad career and if you could find anything about Francis Amanda, I would really like to know about her. I have both of their portraits, hers as a young woman. I see where my husband's good looks came from. I will wait to request a lookup for my husband's mother who was born in Forty Fort, Dallas, Luzerne County, PA. Thank you ahead of time for whatever you can do, if any. Please let me know if you cannot. Judy

    3. I'm unaware of an 1876 or 1896 census, but perhaps 1880 and 1900 would be of interest? Did you know that the 1880 census is searchable for free at www.familysearch.org? Also, right now at www.ancestry.com immigration records are searchable for free. I will see what I can find in 1900 and will look at the immigration records as well. I've been trying to find my Rees Sims from Wales to Luzerne Co in the 1850s in the immigration records, but so far no luck, so I know how frustrating that can be. ----- Original Message ----- : I would like to know what the 1876 and 1896 census says about Francis Amanda and her family and about George especially.
