The story in our family was that everything took place in Washington County,,, Finleyville.. I have just found a bit of information that my gggf Smith? Bell, who married Elizabeth Bouton , daughter was born in Fayette County. Are there any Bouton in Fayette County in the 1810 - 1820 census? Thank you for helping. Grant
There are Bell's in Washington Co. as of the 1790 census. (note I am searching Bell* to cover both Bell and Belle) The first I see in that area is 1810 Name: John Bell Township: Finley County: Washington State: Pennsylvania for 1820, none in Finley / Finleyville the John above is in Cecil ditto for 1830 for 1840 there is a James in East Finley a Jane in West Finley in 1850 Ann, Clarissa, George, James, Franklin, John, Mancy (Nancy?), Martha, Mary, Nancy, Mary, Hester, & John in West Finley I know I have looked for Smith Bell before. I believe Smith must have been his middle name, because there is no record of him that I can find. I do find a 20 yr old Smith Bell in the Blair Co. 1880 census of Altoona... -----Original Message----- From: E [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 9:41 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [PA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1820/fayette/Bouton The story in our family was that everything took place in Washington County,,, Finleyville..
