Hi, Lydia The 1820 doesn't list single, married, widow...also doesn't show street names; there is no female head of household listed for Spring Garden... this is a possible: Name: Mary Baker Township: Moyamensing County: Philadelphia State: Pennsylvania Year: 1820 Roll: M33_109 Page: 175B Image Number: 185 this Mary is the head of household so she is the female over 45 there is also a female in the next youngest category as well as several males; one the same age as the other female and 2 that are younger there's this Mary: Name: Mary Baker Township: Philadelphia Locust Ward County: Philadelphia State: Pennsylvania Year: 1820 Roll: M33_108 Page: 57 Image Number: 46 but this link goes to the wrong image; there is no Baker on the linked page For female heads of household, there are about 3 Mary's, I think 2 Hannah's, and an Isabel.....there's nothing so far that can be used to pinpoint anyone..if you could find a map of the city close to that time and determine which section N. 8th St. is in, then at least we'd know what section/district of the city to look more closely at..... do you know if she had children/grandchildren living with her? (p.s. I haven't forgotten the other stuff I've been looking at for you but need time to re-immerse myself in the details in order to resume the search. I've been very lazy since I came back from vaction!) -----Original Message----- From: lydia kearney [mailto:l.kearney@worldnet.att.net] Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2005 1:33 PM To: PA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PACEN] 1820-Philadelphia-BAKER Woo Hoo! Another lead!!! :) Good morning to you all! Could someone try to find the 1820 census in Philadelphia for a widow? Her surname is BAKER. I found her on the 1820 city directory as the widow of my ancestor Jacob BAKER. It did not list her given name. She was livina at N. 8th St. at the time. I belive that might be in the Spring Garden section, but I'm unsure. Her given name might be Mary. I would guess that she would be in her 40s or 50s. Thanks for anything you can provide! This would be a huge find for me! regards Lydia ==== PA-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== #7) To UNSUBSCRIBE: If you belong to the "L" list, send a new email to pa-census-lookup-l-request@rootsweb.com; put the word "unsubscribe" in both the subject line and message body (without the quotes!).
