    1. Interesting information

    3. Hello list! I have been able to get my hands on several old birth, death and marriage certificates for my family and thought I'd mention this. A lot of the "official" information is wrong or very different from what I was lead to believe! I thought I'd mention this because I have spent considerable money contacting various government agencies with what I believed to be the correct information, only to be told that there were no records. For example, and this was not uncommon for new immigrants, my father's birth certificate lists him as "Male Lopez". If I request his name "Joseph" and birthdate from the state, I would be told there were no records. Naming a child at the baptism was very common, so I suppose many of our lost relatives are listed as male, female, son or daughter! Heavy accents might make a difference on the census or other forms. My uncle was named "Ceasare". They called him "Chester", but with a heavy accent, it came off as "Esther" and he was listed as a daughter! Death certificates are great finds, but often, because of the stress of the situation, incorrect information is provided. On my grandfather's death certificate, his mother is listed with his wife's name including the maiden name. My father's death certificate lists his mother's maiden name as "Unknown" because my family didn't know how to spell the original Polish spelling. Often church records are very good, but you also have the problem that many church employees either don't have the time or can't read the old records well. If you can't find a record, but you know one should exist, keep trying. And don't be surprised if it's right under your nose! I hope the people on this great list take the opportunity, if they haven't already, to ask living relatives for documents, pictures and stories. I managed to be the one in the family to get the old pictures and spent a couple of days scanning them to cds. I have distributed them to other family relatives. Unfortunately, there are many faces who will remain nameless in the photos because no one labeled them! Call that elderly relative, bring a cake, and have a nice afternoon going over the family history before it's all gone! good luck with your searches! Lydia

    3. Please look for Samuel and Esther Anna BUSH. I'm not sure that Samuel is the correct given name of the husband of Esther Anna. Esther or Hettie was living in Longswamp Twp in 1910 with Franklin and Susannah Gift, her son-in-law and daughter. She would be 49 years old and born in PA as well as her parents. Thanx. Kerm

    2. Bob George
    3. Please look up the following individual in the 1900 and 1920 US Census: Thomas C. Treen, born in 1867 in England. Parents also born in England. In the 1910 Census: Thomas, and wife, Marie, age 36 (born in Maryland. Parents born in Germany) were living in Pleasantville, Atlantic County, New Jersey. They had been married 10 years and had no children. I requested a look-up in New Jersey, but the volunteers couldn't find him (them) there. I thought they might possibly be in NY or Pennsylvania instead. In 1890, Thomas lived at 319 W. Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia with brothers Frederick S., John W., and Robert B. This was also the business address of Treen Brothers Photography. Thanks in advance, Bob George, Olympia, Washington
