    1. Re: [PACEN] EARL, Lawson, Montgomery Cty., 1920
    2. Thanks Jenn and Gail for taking the time to look this up. Definitely the Laura, Lawson, and Virginia in 1930 are mine. It's very possible the Lawson Earl at Girard College is mine also. I believe the father may have been deceased by 1920, and the family was poor, and Girard College was a tuition free boarding school for low income families. Thanks again for your help. 1. Re: [PACEN] EARL, Lawson, Montgomery Cty., 1920
    2. Deb, I started off looking in 1900 Norristown for any boys of age who could have married Laura and I found a family with a Joseph & Samuel L. So I entered Samuel Earl and found them in Allegheny Co in 1910 1910 Allegheny Co, 20 wd Pittsburgh EARL, Samuel L, Head, 31, married 7 yrs, laborer, iron mill, rents house Laura J, wife, 29, 2 children / 2 living Lawson S, son, 2 Virginia, daughter, 2/12 All b. PA, PA, PA 1920 Montgomery Co, 10-wd Norristown living at 206 Noble St BEARD, William, Head, 81, rents, gardner, private family Anna A, wife, 69 Victor S, son, 41, single, driver, ~~ Co BROWN, Anna M, daughter, 37, married, packer, medicine co Clarence, son in law, 27, married, house painter HINKLE, Vera, daughter, 25, married William M, son in law, 31, married, foreman carpenter, building co Jessie M, grandson, 8 William B, grandson, 7 EARLE, Laura, daughter, 38, widowed, trained nurse, steel plant Virginia, grand daughter, 9 All b. PA, PA, PA, so the Lawson found in Phila is probably yours. The family I found in 1900 , 6-wd Norristown Boro were EARL, Mary, Head, May 1853, 47, widowed, 4 children / 4 living, rents house Joseph, son, Jan 1872, 25, machinist Samuel L, son, Feb 1879, 21, helper on rolling machine So, of course, I had to find them in 1880 to see who Samuel's father was. Here they are in 2-wd Norristown Samuel L EARLES, 32, Laborer Mary J, 27, keeping house William T, son, 7 Joseph, son, 5 Ida, daughter, 3 Samuel L, son, 1 All born PA, PA, PA So not only do you have Lawson's father's name, may possibly have his grandparents also. If you'd like look ups before 1880, let me know. I tried to find the Mary & Joseph in 1910 to make sure this was or wasn't the same Samuel, but I couldn't find them. (Well, I haven't tried real hard yet but I will look) Karen ---- DbrhStan@comcast.net wrote: > Thanks Jenn and Gail for taking the time to look this up. 3. Girard was originally a school for poor fatherless boys. I knew some boys that went there. So if this is Lawson, it would mean his father is dead. Girard was in the Philly area. -----Original Message----- From: DbrhStan@comcast.net [mailto:DbrhStan@comcast.net] Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2005 10:46 PM To: PA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PACEN] EARL, Lawson, Montgomery Cty., 1920 Thanks Jenn and Gail for taking the time to look this up. 3. Now, in PA, in 1870, this Marget has a son, Charles, age 2 Name: Marget Hughes Estimated Birth Year: abt 1842 Age in 1870: 28 Birthplace: Pennsylvania Home in 1870: Millville, Cambria, Pennsylvania Family and neighbors: View Results Race: White Gender: Female Value of real estate: View Image Post Office: Johnstown Roll: M593_1318 Page: 382 Image: 241 Year: 1870 she also has a dau age 7, but if the dau. married young, would no longer be with the mother... I also searched Marget b. in 1841 and found one with a young Charles, but she had a younger son as well, so not likely... -----Original Message----- From: Mike and Kathy Dobra [mailto:dobra7@cybermick.com] Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2005 5:03 PM To: PA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PACEN] Indiana/1860/WANAMAKER This maybe a long shot but it's worth a try! I'm still looking for the parents of Charles WANAMAKER b.1866 Lawarence Co. PA. I know his mother is Margret and is listed as a widow in 1880 OH census. His fathers place of birth is listed as either IN,PA or unknown. I thought maybe he might show up with Margret in Indania Co?? I know they were in Lawarence Co in 1866. 3. In 1870, I find this Laura Name: Laura B Wannamaker Estimated Birth Year: abt 1863 Age in 1870: 7 Birthplace: Indiana Home in 1870: Chillicothe, Livingston, Missouri Family and neighbors: View Results Race: White Gender: Female Value of real estate: View Image Post Office: Chillicothe Roll: M593_789 Page: 430 Image: 35 Year: 1870 the father is Joseph, 35, b. PA mother Lucinda, 31, b. OH Wm. L 10, Ind. Laura B, 7, Ind. Anastasia, 4, Ind. IF this is the right Laura, then obviously Charles was not the son of Jos. Wannamaker, since he was only 1 yr younger than Laura... This is the only Laura of about the right age born Indiana in the 1870.
