Dear Liz (and others), You were kind enough to lookup this Samuel Rowlands in 1900 but I'm having trouble reconciling him to the 1870 census lookup Jennifer provided since his wife and eldest children left the scene in the intervening 30 years. I tried the 1880 census at Familysearch with no luck and was wondering if you have access to another source for that census to check on the whereabouts of Samuel and his wife Mary A. and son Evan along with what may or may not be his younger children Emma and William, in order to tie the family together over the years. On the 1850 census Evan ROWLANDS is found in Peebles Twp, later a part of Pittsburgh, with wife Elizabeth and children Sarah, Louisa and Samuel age 1 (b.1849 ?). In 1860 Evan and family are found in Mifflin Twp, just south of Peebles, and Samuel is age 12 (b.1848 ?) and there are also sons Evan, age 7 and William, age 5. (They were in Mifflin in 1870 also but I don't have a listing of which children were still home or not.) In 1880 wife Elizabeth is now a widow living with eldest daughter Sarah (William) LEE, in Baldwin, which is just west of Mifflin. (With them is Sarah E. PENN, 14, a granddaughter to Elizabeth and niece to Sarah, the discovery of her parents names would be of interest to me, also.) "My" line of Rowlands comes through William, born 27 Jun 1856. I found a reference to a Samuel ROWLANDS in the 1890 Homestead Directory, living in "Forrestville", now a part of West Homestead Boro, but was a part of Mifflin at that time, and in the vicinity of Evan Rowlands' home in 1860/70. I'd like to see if there is a connection between 1890 Samuel, and Samuel the son of Evan. *** May I have a look-up circa 1900 for Samuel ROWLANDS (Rollins, Rollands, Etc), and if found, any indication of a relationship to Evan, who was from Wales, and to Samuel's children. Please. Any reference to the whereabouts of Samuel's and William's brother Evan (b. circa 1853) would be welcome also. With sincere appreciation, George T., Pittsburgh

I submitted this requested before without a county. I have entered Bradford as other relatives were there. I admit it is a guess. Can someone please help. Please I can only hope Patrick Donlon is in PA for the 1850 or 1860 census. Pat Donlin (Sp} arrived here with his wife Catherine and son Mike prior to 1850 All were born in Ireland. Pat 1801, Catherine 1803 and Mike 1842 In New York State, they had 3 more children Kate 1846, Pat 1848, and John 1851. But ........ this family does not appear in the 1850 or 1860 Federal census nor in the NY 1855 census. Why are the children born in NY State? Patrick had a brother John living in Hartsville Steuben County. It may be that Patrick's wife can to stay with her sister-in-law during pregnancy. The complete family appears in the New York State census for 1865 as living near Patrick's brother John. But where did they go between pregnancies? They are not listed in the New York for any of Census taken 1850 , 1955 0r 1860. Hopefully Pennsylvania as they were within 30 miles of the state line. Please check with a look up. Thank you.. Grant
