I am looking for a Clifford HERTMAN or HERDMAN, who married Hazel LEONARD, the daughter of Peter LEONARD and Julia Ann GAHAGAN. We understand that he was from Pennsylvania, that he may have been born there. We have Clifford being married somewhere in the State of Washington, either Tacoma - the birthplace of Hazel or Walla Walla, or the birthplace of their daughter Julia Mary Herdman. They may have come to the San Francisco area sometime after they were married, but later divorced. I am looking for Peter LEONARD and Julia Ann GAHAGAN Peter came from Little Chute, Outagamie County, Wisconsin, and was born about 1860. . His parents were both born in Ireland, probably around County Cork - but we are unsure of that. We have no dates for the parents, who were John LEONARD and Catherine BERRY. Peter LEONARD married a Julia Ann GAHAGAN [variants could be Gagan, Gaffigan, or Ghagan; root was Geoghegan], but we don't have a date or place of marriage. They may have gone to the State of Washington where their children, Hazel (b. 1892) and Peter were born (1893 or 1894). Julia Ann was born in 1868, and was probably born in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Her parents were also from Ireland: Michael Gahagan, b. circa 1820 - 1825, County Cork; and, Margaret HOUNIHAN [variant could be Whonohan] probably County Cork, and maybe the townland of Donaghmore. Margaret's parents have been reported as John HOUNIHAN [Whonohan] and Honora (Nora) CARROLL, of County Cork, Ireland. Regards, Jim Carroll

For my Daughter's of the American Revolution membership, I have my patriot Christopher Lerch's service and genealogy approved, but there is a discrepancy in his birth date: the original Lebanon Co. Reformed Church cemetery record has Jan 11, 1738. His new monument stating Rev War soldier, has Jan 11, 1758. DAR wants proof of the correct date. I have looked everywhere. Egle's, published in 1883 has Christian Larch, Jan 11, 1758, but I am looking for an older more primary reference. The copy of his will shows his wife as Anna Maria, but I do not have a surname for her. Christopher died Sept. 4, 1823. His father was Wilhelm Lerch (1721 to abt 1900) and mother Maria Margaret.
