    3. John McDonald BUZZARD died at his home in Climax, Pa., on September 18. He was a very active man and was seemingly enjoying good health. A few hours before his death, Mr. BUZZARD suffered an attack of indigestion, which ended his life suddenly. He received his education in the public schools of Armstrong county and in Clarion State Normal school. He taught school for a time and for a number of years was postmaster at Sturgeon. Mr. BUZZARD was united in marriage in 1897 with Miss Emma BROCKMYER, who passed from this life May 8, 1909. A short time after the death of his wife, he returned to his boyhood home and spent his remaining days. Mr. BUZZARD is survived by three brothers, three sisters, and other relatives. Thomas J. HAWKINS, aged 60, for the past 12 years a resident of Burgettstown, was fatally injured Monday afternoon about 4 o'clock at Bavington, north of Burgettstown, near the Smith and Hanover township lines. He was engaged at the time by the PURDY & SANDERS construction company, of Clinton, engaged in construction work on a link of the William Penn highway, now being improved across this county. Mr. HAWKINS, who was a carpenter by trade, was employed as a form builder for concrete work. A bridge is being built over Raccoon creek at Bavington. He was down in an excavation, with several other men, and was putting in a form for a concrete wing wall. A cave in occurred and he was caught under the fall of about 16 feet of clay. It required some time to rescue him from his position and he lived about 20 minutes after being rescued. Mr. HAWKINS was born and reared in Tobinsport, Indiana. He came to Burgettstown about 12 years ago. He was a carpenter by trade and had followed that occupation in and about Burgettstown. His wife is dead, but he leaves two daughters and one son. They are Miss Mary E. HAWKINS, cashier in the Washington office of the Pennsylvania freight station, being formerly connected with the company at Burgettstown; Mrs. Bernard SHAPERS of New York City, and Alfred L. HAWKINS, of Burgettstown. He also leaves four brothers, Fred, James and Ruben HAWKINS, of Tobinsport, Ind., H. W. HAWKINS, of Birmingham, Alabama. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church.
