GEDEON, KENNEDY, GERTZEL, VALETTA, MURRAY, CAMPBELL August 9, 1928 McDonald PA Outlook Matthias GEDEON, aged 57 years, died at his home in Valley street on Monday morning, August 6. Mr. GEDEON has been ill only several days, death resulting from Catarrhal jaundice. He was born in Austria and came to this country when very young. Mr. GEDEON operated a truck garden and was well known about this vicinity. He is survived by one brother, A. A. GEDEON of Titusville, and one sister of Pittsburgh. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at nine o'clock in St. Alphonsus' church, the Rev. Fr. Joseph A. BURGOON officiating. Interment was in St. Michael's cemetery, Southside, Pittsburgh. Gladys KENNEDY, aged 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy KENNEDY of Cherry Valley, died Friday morning in the Wheeling hospital after an illness of sugar diabetes. Miss KENNEDY had been living with relatives in Elm Grove. She attended Burgettstown High school. She is survived by her parents; one brother and one sister. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James KENNEDY of Burgettstown and a cousin of F. C. and Miss Cora BOYD of McDonald. Funeral services were held in the Wheeling Presbyterian church Monday afternoon, with interment in the Greenwood cemetery. Fred T. GERTZEL died at his late home, 105 Liberty street, McDonald, on Sunday evening, August 5, 1928, at 7:40 o'clock eastern standard time. Mr. GERTZEL had been ill for the past several weeks and death followed a stroke suffered the past week. He was born on September 9, 1868, coming to this country thirty-three years ago. He had been a resident of McDonald for the past thirty years and a member of the First United Presbyterian church for twenty-five years. Mr. GERTZEL for the past several years had operated an auto accessory store here, having the Willy Knight automobile agency, his son, James being a partner with him. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James A. GERTZEL of Fanny street, Margaret M. and William at home, a brother, A. W. GERTZEL of Hightstown, N. J., and three sisters, Mrs. Robert WESTBROOK of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. A. W. BOHR of Warrior, Ala., and Mrs. Ernest FISHER of Byars, Okla. Funeral services were held from his late home yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church officiating. Interment in Robinson's Run cemetery. Edward VALETTA of Carnegie died Saturday at 9:10 a. m., in the Allegheny General Hospital, after an illness of several months. Mr. and Mrs. Earl MAXWELL were called to Martinsville, Va., on account of the death of an uncle, David MURRAY, who was killed in a railway accident. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. CAMPBELL attended the funeral on Monday of the former's nephew, Robert Baker CAMPBELL, aged 9 months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas CAMPBELL of Pittsburgh. The baby died suddenly on Saturday after a few hours illness.
