Hugh Addison BYERS, aged 66, a well-known oil man here, died Tuesday evening, November 27, at 7:30 o'clock in the Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, from a fractured skull received when hit by an automobile as he was crossing Lincoln avenue near the St. Alphonsus church. The accident occurred last Thursday evening about 7:30 o'clock. Snow was falling heavily and just as Mr. BYERS stepped into the street he was hit by a passing truck which threw him in the way of another car following close behind, which also struck him. the truck, it is said, was running without lights and did not stop. The driver of the second car stopped and assisted in giving aid. On Saturday he was taken to the Mercy hospital. Mr. BYERS had been a resident of McDonald for the last 35 years, having come here in the early days of the oil industry. He was a man held in high esteem by a large circle of acquaintances, and was a member of the First United Presbyterian church. He leaves his wife, who was Miss Mary Rebecca STEVENSON, and the following children: Edwin BYERS, of Jefferson, Greene county; Mrs. Margaretta MURRAY, of New Kensington, Mrs. Helen OLDHAM and Richard BYERS of Akron, O., and Mary and Laverne BYERS, at home. Funeral services will be held in the First United Presbyterian church on Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. S. A. MCCOLLAM will be in charge of the service. An opportunity to view the body will be given in the church between the hours of one and two o'clock. Interment will be in Robinson's Run cemetery.
