This identure made this twenty fourth Day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six between James Ryan Eloner Ryan his wife of Guilford County and State of North Carolina of the one part and Richard OZMENT of the same county and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Ryan & Elloner his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred forty pounds of lawful Money of this State to us paid in hand paid by the said Richard OZMENT the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and my self therewith fully satisfied and contented & thereof and of every part and parcel thereof do exonerate acquit and discharge the said Richard OZMENT ____ his heirs Executors and administrators forever by these presents have given granted bargained Sold conveyed and confirmed and by these forewith do freely and absolutely Given grant bargain Sell convey & confirm unto Richard OZMENT his heirs and assigns forever certain ____ and tract of land Situate lying and being in Gulford County afforesaid on the waters of South Bufflow Beginning at a spanish oak corner to land of John Ryan ____ _____ ____ said John Ryans Land east thirty five chains to his post oak corner thence North ten chains to ____ post oak thence East _____ chains to a hickory thence North eighteen chains and one half to a marked white oak in Edward Ryans old Line thence west along ___ _____ to his corner ____ East fourty four chains thence South to the beginning twenty eight chains and one half containing one hundred & sixteen acres being part of a large tract granted to said Edward Ryan by this State to have and to hold the said bargained ____ with all the appertaining priviledges comodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Richard OZMENT his Heirs and assigns forever to his & their only proper use benefit and behoof forever & The Said James Ryan with my wife for me my Heirs Executors & admi. do covenant promise and grant to and with the said Richard OZMENT Senr his Heirs and that before the ensealing hereof I am the true and lawful owner of the above bargained promised and Lawfully Seized (?) & _____ of the same in mind own proper right of as a good perfect & absolute Estate of _____ and have in myself good rightful power and lawful authority to grant bargain Sell convey and confirm the Said bargained ______ in the manner as above mentioned & that the said Richard OZMENT Senr his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time & at all time forever after by ______ of these presents fully peacably & Quietly have hold . . . ./ . . . . Witnesseth that the Sd William Meaben for & in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred & ten Pounds to him in hand paid the Receipt Whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Hath given _____ Bargained Sold Conveyed & Confirmed unto the Sd. Richard OZMENT his heirs & assigns forever a Certain _____ or Tract of Land lying & being in the County of Guilford aforesd on the waters of South Buffeloe Begining at a Stake near Dennis Towneys Corner turning South on his line Ninety-Two poles to his Corner . . . Containing Ninety Seven acres by the Same More or Less Together with all the appurtenance there unto belonging or in any wise appurtaining To had & to Hold the Sd granted premises with all the appurtenances To him the Sd Rd. To all to whome these presents Shall Come Greeting. Know you that ____ for & in Consideration of the Sum of Ten pounds for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Richard OZMENT have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the Said Richard OZMENT Senr(? appears to be scratched out) a Tract of Land Containing fifty acres Lying & being in our County of Guilford on the South Side of Stoney Creek begining with Florence Sullivans Corner Post Oak turning West on his Line ninety nine poles to a black Jack on Francis Cummins Line thence South on his Line Eighty Two poles to a Black Jack in Josiah Trotters Line thence East on his Line Ninety Nine poles to his Corner Post Oak thence to the first Station as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals ________ and appurtenances to the Sd Land belonging or appurtaining to hold to the Sd Richard OZMENT his Heirs or assigns for ever yealding and paying to us Such Sums of Money yearly or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may Direct ______ always that the Sd Richard OZMENT Shall Cause this grant to be Registered in the Registers office of our Sd County of Guilford within twelve months from the Date hereof otherwise the Same Shall be Void and of No Effect in Testimony whereof we have . . . and our grate Seal to be present . ./ . the 20th day of December in the 16th year of our Independence & in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety one.
